First of all, I've had tons of Paul's Boutique products. However, I am the first to admit that the quality is not great.. I just love the designs and so keep buying them regardless but they aren't particularly reliable or well made. The first two bags I bought, I took back to the shop because the handles cracked and had to argue to get them both changed because they wouldn't come across... I'm guessing this is because they often have this problem and when a bag costs between 50-80 pounds... they don't want to be losing this sort of money all of the time.
This particular bag is beautiful. Its spacious, has a zip pocket inside and deifinitely turns heads with its unique style and Pauls Boutique rosette. However, again this bag has the whole handle cracking issue again. Although this baag is huge and could fit a lot more into it than i actually put in, I tried not to fill it because I know what happens from past experience. It isn't great! It's not a maajor problem but if you look at the handles, they are already cracking and in a few months they are more than likely going to snap.
Although I speak about how much I love the designs of the PB bags, this is the last one I will buy with the PB logo on a white background because the design really isn't practical. From time to time, every woman's bag has to be placed on the floor and this soon makes the logo black. It can't really be helped but it can't really be cleaned either. I managed to get a little bit of the blackness out with make up wipes but to be fair, its now pitted and any attempt I make to clean it now just seems to make it even worse.
Don't get me wrong, these bags are pretty, they have good quality zips unlike some bags that I have bought in the past. But they just aren't for the long term and considering they are quite expensive, I really do expect a little more for my money.
I have loved the look of Pauls Boutique bags for a while now, and finally got my hands on one a couple of years ago using my student loan (oops!). I should have learnt my lesson from having my first one (will explain why further down) but because I like the way they look I went and bought this 'I love PB' twister bag just a couple of weeks ago.
The main thing I love the bag for is its look. I realise the brand is not for everyone due to their eccentric designs but I think this particular one is just right. It is mostly plain black meaning it will go with any outfit but still makes a statement and adds a bit of personality with the large badge and the trademark Pauls Boutique charms. This is another thing that particularly appeals to me..the fact that every bag is unique with the different charms. The inside of the bag is nice too, mine is a leopard print pattern but I'm pretty sure these differ from bag to bag too and it also has several handy pockets and zips to store money/phones etc.
Another plus point of this particular bag is its size. I love oversized bags mainly for the way they look but also it obviously means you can fit a lot in it! I often use mine to carry my laptop and study books around with me as well as other small essentials such as purse, phone, keys and always have plenty of space left. Therefore, I would particularly recommend it for students/business people as it doubles up as a very stylish alternative to a laptop bag in my opinion!
Now for the major downfall...they literally fall apart :(. As I briefly mentioned earlier, I previously had another of the bags in the PB range. After about a year of having it, the strap completely fell off as I was using it. As if this wasn't enough, when I looked at the damage it had done, I found the strap had all along been held on (wait for it...) with a STAPLE!! No wonder it had broken if it was made like this in the first place! I was astounded that a bag of this price would be of such low quality! A couple of days later, the zip on the bag also broke so it was completely unusable. Because of this, I was understandably put off the brand for a while but as I said I brought this one the other week. My principles only held out for so long as every time I saw one of the bags in the shop I was still desperate for another one because I love the way they look!!
The first time I used the twister bag, within 10 minutes one of the charms had broken! I didn't even bother taking it back because I know how unhelpful they are from my previous experience (they will send it off for examination, and if found not faulty they keep the bag!!) so I just took the charm off and carried on. Needless to say, I was again appalled at the low quality for the high price tag (£65).
I do regret buying the I love PB twister bag given my previous experience with the brand and wish I didn't like the look of them so much and could resist them! Nevertheless, it is still going strong (even though its only been 2 weeks) and as I said before it is a good sized bag as well as it not being as overpowering as some of the others in the PB collection.
Overall, I would be hesitant to recommend the PB bags in general and if you have any willpower (unlike me), would definitely discourage you to be drawn in by the pretty coloured charms and designer name.
I'm such a fan of Paul's Boutique bags and purses. I always seem to go for matching bags and purses, which doesn't suit my bank balance! I bought this purse because of the size, the cute charms and the logo to the front.
This is my usual work bag, it's a really large size so handy to fit a few cosmetics, books, and other bits in. There are a few compartments inside too. It has a zip fastening and has a clasp at the front. I love the individual charms which come with each of the bags.
It's also a really good size to use as an overnight bag with just a few bits and pieces in.
I normally go for PB bags that are a lot brighter, but I like this as it's toned down and suitable for work with still showing my individuality.
These are quite pricey bags, and if you go the whole hog and have the matching purse, it can easily cost around £80-90.
I have this bag but it is a dark brown and leopard print instead!
I absolutely adore Pauls Boutique handbags! If you own one you will know what i mean by treating it as an exra limb! Constantly looking at it, admiring it and congratulateing yourself on how clever you have been to purchase such a god of a bag!
On a serious note...... I would say there are a couple of let downs.... for example a couple of my charms have fallen off lately as you cant contantly check if their caught on somthing, loose or just genrally knocked around a bit! They are easy enough to attach back later if you find one has fallen off.
Also its the same with any handbag not matter how cheap or expensive it is they do get worn out a bit!
I have found that on my own bag only a tiny bit of the rubber onb the handle has come away but you would not be able to see it if i dint make you aware of it!
They are sturdy feeling , as well as looking bags and i know mine will last a long time! well worth every penny! They even have matching unique purses to go with the size and shape of your pauls boutique handbag! Unfortunatel i didnt buy one and i really wish i had as i know i will regret that forever now!
The great thing about them is the fact that they are all unique.... each and every handbag from the pauls boutique collection has something no matter how big or tiny which makes it different from any of the other handbags. My hand bag had more purple charms on it than any of the other same style handbag and i liked the style of the padlock. I love the fact that that i can say i own this handbag and no body else in the world has the same identicle one to me!
My mum decided to surprise me for my 18th birthday with one of these "Pauls Boutique". Now, my first issue with "Pauls Boutique" is that it should say Paul's Boutique. OK? The Boutique belongs to Paul, therefore Paul should have an apostrophe so I hate seeing people with the Paul's Boutique bag that fully says "Pauls Boutique" and considering the bag costs £70, I would except it to be at least punctuated properly. OK?
My mum assumed that since there is this huge craze for Paul's Boutique bags that I would like one. So she decided to buy me one of these rip-off bags that I could use of college.
All Paul's Boutique bags are manufactured differently. If you see a Paul's Boutique bag, it's unlikely that you'll ever see the exact same one again. The one shown in the picture is black. Yeah, I suppose it looks not bad there. However, the awful one that I was stuck with is blue, and it does not impress me at all. It has a badge which says "I <3 PB". Yes, an "I <3 NY" rip off. Shown on this image, the bag has a badge on it. These badges can be swapped and changed on request, so I'm stuck with this ugly little chain with a bow and a ball on it. Considering the bag is so plain, I would have liked to have seen one of the bigger badges that other PB bags have.
The size is fairly big for a bag in my opinion. It fit in all my college books with plenty of more space for other things. You can get much larger PB bags than this and you can also get a lot smaller ones. This size of bag would be classed as "medium" in PB terms.
The inside, again, changed from bag to bag. This is what a lot of people love about PB because each bag is unique. However, mines is some strange zebra pattern which means half of the bag is white. When my pens spilled out on it, the silky material inside was stained and it does not wash out. Inside, it has another zip pocket which is fairly large, and another small zipless pocket which is useless for anything as it is so small. Sometimes I have put money in it, but my fingers are too small to fit back in it to get the money out again.
The bag has a zip and it also has a padlock-like thing holding it together. The zip on it, again, changes from model to model but mines fell off within one day of use. The part that holds the zipper on is only partially clothes allowing it to fall off. I was going to take it back, but I'll explain that later
Pants! On the handles, the little thing that holds the handles together has peeled off. I could tell you that the material inside the handle consists of grey material, a bit of green material, and a bit of white material. This happened only a few weeks after use. This would happen to a Primark bag if I bought it, and I wouldn't pay £70 for it!
After the zip fell off I took it back to the shop and told them simply that the zip part wasn't closed over properly when I bought it. Considering I paid so damn much for the bag, I thought they would apologise, give me a new one with some vouchers or something for the inconvenience. The person said that they are not allowed to exchange bags back, but what they do is they send it back to Australia where some highly-trained professional will examine the bag to see if it was a manufacturers fault or mine. If it's a manufacturers fault, I would get a new bag in 6 weeks. If it was my fault, I would not receive the bag back. So what, I have to loose a £70 bag just because I bought it faulty?
What a rip off, never again will I use PB or buy any of their products. Good day!
what i love the most about pauls boutique is no item is the same, even if the difference is slight. each item is individually customised and its beauty stands out every where you take it. This bag is aproximately 12 inches in height and 14 in width, just right for all your nick nacks and girly products. Not too big and not too small. I find the main design and layout of the bag is very similar to that of a chloe bag but is made unique by the bold print and colourfull tassle/charm. I quite like the way the 'stitching' is also a different colour and its the small details alike that make it so gorgeous :-) It shuts easy but is still secure with a top zip aswell as the clasp over and has sturdy handles to hold weight (obviously not too much weight). I also like a bag to have an inner zip and mobile compartment and plenty of space so you can see what your looking for and this suits me to a T! I love how the main print is very retro and bold. Its the perfect bag for most occasions and is comfortable to carry, and carry it in style you shall!!
If youy have read my previous reveiw you will be aware that i am a HUGE fan of 'Pauls Boutique' handbags, and whilst i can't afford as many of them as i would like, i currently own 2 (and plan to soon own 1 more :D) This is my reveiw for the 2nd bag i own: The black Pauls Boutique 'I Love PB' Twister Bag.
The bag is one of the largest i have personally seen in this range, and certaintly a lot bigger than the other one i own, in fact i often use this bag to go to uni as i can fit my laptop inside and still have room for my other things (phone, purse, ipod, make-up etc). It is mad of black leather and has white stitching and a very large white badge with 'I heart PB' inside (very similar to the i love NY t-shirts which are really popular!!)
All of the bags in the PB range come with a customised detatchable padlock charm which is great as it means no 2 bags are the same, my mate also owns this bag but our charms are completley different which i think is a really unique idea. My charm has an orange pom-pom, with green ribbon and various sized orange, green and yellow balls and a gold key, which really adds colour to the bag.
The inside lining has a really great leopard print design and a large inside pocket which comes in really handy. I also personally love the leopard print as i love all animal prints, which apears to be something Pauls Boutique and i have in common! LOL
I would reccomend this bag to everyone as its really well made, durable, fashionable and a little outrageous, but not as much as some of the others in this range which means if you dont want to look too ott this is the bag for you! The size of the bag means its really practical as you can fit loooads inside it and the handle is big enough to comfortably wear on your shoulder. The black colour also means it can be worn with most outfits but the large badge and charm means you still make a statement.
The only downside to this bag is there are a LOT of fakes around especially on the internet. However, it is REEEEALLY easy to spot a fake one of these bags as they are really poorly made and have things like BB or BP written on instead. So dont be fooled by people selling fakes and also dont think you can fool people with a fake because you cant!
I bought this bag from Republic for £65 but they are also available from:
Topshop (Oxford Street Only)
I was on the bus sometime last year when I saw a girl with one of these bags and I wanted one immediately. That was before I knew how much these bags cost but as soon as I found out I decided to start saving up for one. In the end I got this "Pauls Boutique Twister Bag" for Christmas from my mom and I ended up buying a PB Padlock Bag which I will review later. I am pretty much an average girl and that means I LOVE designer shoes and handbags but as Im currently in between jobs I cant afford them very often but these PB bags are two of the things I own that I saved for and I still absolutely adore.
Pauls Boutique as far as Im aware hasnt been that well known for that long and even when I bought my bags it was still quite rare to see someone with a bag from this range - everyone has bloody got them now though! By now though everyone must have seen bags from this range both on the high street and on the arms of celebrities as it has quickly become a really well known brand that everyone wants a piece of. This range also does shirts and hoodies as well as bags and I reckon everyone should own something from this range regardless of what it is.
I think every bag from this brand is an acquired taste because a lot of the bags are very colourful and a bit crazy - this particular bag is actually quite demure and ordinary when you compare it to the rest of the range but I like that because it means you can use it all the time rather than just every now and again. This bag is really quite massive to be honest I dont think Ive ever managed to fill it up totally and I tend to have a lot of stuff in my bag all the time. I can easily fit my laptop into this bag when Im taking it out so this is a great handbag for a weekend away or a holiday. Just by looking at this bag you can tell that is is very high quality. Im not sure whether it is actual leather (it should be for the price LOL) but it does look like it with white stitching all the way around the bag. The straps are long enough for you to use this as a hand held or a shoulder bag and the buckles on the bag are all designed in gold. You can even lock this bag with the little mechanism at the front which you just turn around - but in all honesty this pisses me off. I find it hard to open it when Im shopping and it closes all by itself for some reason so thats not a great addition to the bag. Its more for appearance than anything else. And as you can see in the attached image it has a huge "I Love PB" on the front of it - just to let everyone know the brand name again!
What I really like about the PB range is the bag charms as every single one is different. That means your paying for something totally unique when you buy a bag and Ive had a look (my mates got the same bag) to see if my charm is the same as another bag and its totally different. My charms include: a bright orange pom pom, a gold skull, a little green heart and a pink starfish among others - I agree that does not sound that great but as a whole it looks really great - the charms are also detachable so you can put them on another bag if you wish. I even love the inside of this bag because it is silky leopard print and Im addicted to animal print so the whole bag design attracts me.
Even though this bag is a bit crazy it looks really posh and you can wear it with anything because it matches any colour. Ive been using mine pretty much none stop since Christmas and it still looks brand new (except the pom pom which got rained on hehe) so I think it is definately worth the money because you will get so much use out of it. Its annoying how generic these bags have become - I saw a girl who looked about 9 with one the other day I would never have got a bag that cost this much when I was that age! I do recommend this bag though as its practical and looks really funky - you will be well in "this season" LOL.
This bag is available from loads of places now but I got mine from Selfridges and it cost £60 which I agree is a lot but every girl deserves a treat every now and again so I highly recommend it.
