I am not a regular Marks and Spencer's customer but decided to have a quick browse one day. I am so pleased that I did.
This bag is modern and stylish and in my opinion shows the new modern twist that Marks and Spencer's are putting into their clothing department. I opted for the light blue colour, although the bag came in a few more colours such as red, black and purple. I believe the subtle blue colour really shows off the elegance of the bag.
I use this bag when I go to work, when I go out at night or just when I am shopping. This really sums up the versatility of this bag. It looks good with anything and on any occasion.
Many people and commented on the bag and mentioned that it looks far more expensive than Marks and Spencer's (which is a great compliment to receive, both for me and for Mark's!)
The storage section in the bag is large enough for all my possessions such as purse, phone, make up, diary etc. and there is a discrete zip up compartment to keep items such as passport extra safe!
I would highly recommend this bag!
Recently I was browsing in the Per Una section of Marks and Spencers, and I saw two bags that I absolutely fell in love with and felt that I had to have. This is one of them, and I shall soon be reviewing the second!
This is a large handbag with a toaster-style shape. It has a series of tiered ruffles down the front and back which makes it look very stylish and high quality. The romantic, Victorian, ruffle style look is very much in fashion at the moment so it is in line with current trends.
The bag has a double handle which is probably best for holding by hand as it would struggle to fit over larger shoulders. If you are very petite you might be able to carry it on your shoulder. It doesn't have a zip or buckle fastening, rather the two sides of the bag are magnetic at the top and snap together satisfyingly, making the bag seem very secure.
The material the bag is made out of looks at first like snakeskin leather, however when you touch it is surprisingly soft and suede like, which made me fall in love with the bag even more. The outer is 100 per cent polyester. Inside it is fully lined with a flowery print in 100 per cent cotton, and has a zipped inner pocket.
The bag comes in four colours. These are black, purple, cornflower (a light blue-mauve) and cream. For me the purple shade is by far the nicest as it is very rich and vibrant, and really makes the bag stand out as a statement piece, whereas the other colours do not draw enough attention to this lovely bag.
The bag costs £25.00 which is not bad, however I am a little concerned about the durability as it is very soft and is not leather. Although the base of the bag is reinforced, I am still sceptical about how long this will last. I am hoping it will be worth the expenditure!
If you want to see some close up photographs of both the inside and outside of the bag then you can go to the Marks and Spencers website which has four pictures of the cream bag and four of the black bag. Just search for 'Per Una Ruffle Shoulder Bag' and it should come straight up.
