“ Brand: Radley „
Radley make some wonderful bags with playful and stylish designs. I am always on the hunt for a bargain so when I see a bag I like then I tend to search the internet for the best price and I tend to use eBay to get a bag that has been previously owned but not used. Sometimes people get them as gifts or change their mind after purchase, so you can swoop in and buy it with a significant reduction.
This bag was first spotted in John Lewis's and I loved the soft leather and stylish, sophisticated design. I thought that it would make a lovely bag for everyday use as it can accommodate my things for work along with my everyday handbag items. It looks the part and it was a very good purchase. I have always been a fan of Radley bags, along with Marc Jacobs and Mulberry so I am not too loyal to the brand; I just appreciate a really nice handbag. Radley is a British brand which has designed and manufactured handbags for many years. The company has its origins in a market stall in London begun by Lowell Harder in 1984. Another great British bag manufacturer. If we can do anything right, it is most certainly handbags, although I do wonder whether they are actually made fully in this country.
==Price and availability==
The retail price for the bag is £280 in the shops which for the size is a good price. When you compare it against Mulberry bags of similar description; you will expect to pay close to the £1000 mark. This is reasonably priced for the quality of leather and size of the bag. Never happy unless I have a true bargain, I managed to buy it on ebay for £245 so it saved me quite a bit.
Before I describe the bag, I will first tell you how to spot a genuine Radley bag because if you want to buy from eBay then you need to be careful as there are a lot of fakes on here. I always report fake bags so that they can be deleted by eBay, it really frustrates me as I am buying the bag mainly for the quality and the name tag comes second. When you buy a fake, you get the name but the quality just is not there. So firstly, the logo, the logo the company use is the little Scottish terrier and a genuine bag will come with the dog as a tag, they never emblazon their logo on their wares. All Radley price tags have a little red dog at the bottom and the logo will also be displayed inside. The older bags you may see on eBay have a black terrier with a red collar. New Radleys like the one here, have a silver metal terrier on a black leather backing. Finally, the interior should be just as good quality as the exterior. Radley bags are lined with a fine grade needlecord. The interior of this bag is beautiful and it is lined in a lovely beige needlecord that looks stunning against the soft black leather.
The bag is designed to be worn on the shoulder and it has the measurements of being 25 cm tall x 38 cm wide x 14cm deep. The bag can be expanded slightly at the sides. The straps are made from the same quality of Bali leather and they are soft and pliable. The straps merge nicely with the design of the bag and they give it a lovely equestrian feel. The bag has a little magnetic shutter to secure it which is good as it gives you quick access to your belongings but it is also very secure. At the rear of the bag is a silver zipper which has a flat secure pocket, perfect for my phone as it gives me easy access. Inside the bag are two pockets which include a zippered one and drop pocket. I find the amount of pockets sufficient and there is plenty of room in the main section. The interior of the bag does mark though and my purse has managed to leave black marks of the interior as the leather of the purse has rubbed against the soft fabric. You have to expect wear and tear with a bag though and even when I spend a lot of money on a bag, it still gets subjected to daily usage; what is the point of having a bag if you have to be careful about using it. This is my regular everyday bag and I love it, it is sophisticated and stylish.
The bag is beautiful and it goes so well with my work wear. At first I was moving my stuff into my smaller weekend bag but recently I use only this and take this out as a regular bag and not just as a work bag. The leather is so soft and beautiful , you can really tell the quality of it. The leather is stitched beautifully and it is well made and carefully put together, as are all of the Radley bags I have come into contact with. The only problem with the bag and this is not a fault of the workmanship is that the straps are fixed in an upright position and they cannot be shortened, sometimes I like to carry my bag and hold the straps so it hangs low like a shopping bag, I cannot do this as easily with this style of bag. A minor niggle from this stunning leather bag.
