“ Brand: River Island / Type: Purse „
I bought this purse a while back from River Island in black. I have bought many purses from River Island and try to go for different deigns. This purse was small but cute. The purse is a plain design with just the RI ring in metal on the front. For only £10 I decided to treat myself. Inside the purse it was gold which I thought was nice not just 1 plain colour and boring. When you pop the button open the purse falls open with just a zip compartment for your coins not large so if you tend to have allot of coins this wouldn't work for you. There were more compartments for your cards than anything else which I found quite annoying after a while because where was the room to put your money? Never mind. For £10 I couldn't complain and it wasn't long before I stuck it on Ebay to get some money to put towards another purse.
My previous purse was a £1.99 flimsy little thing I picked up near the till in H&M that whenever it was in my bag I could never seem to find! A few months ago when I was in River Island I decided to treat myself after some nagging from my aunt and sister! After I saw this purse for a mere tenner, I knew it was coming home with me!
It is not a real leather purse as it is made from 100% polyurethane but the feel of it is really good quality and it although it of course doesn't smell like leather a quick whip out of my purse and most people are none the wiser anyway! I got this in cream, as I thought I wanted something a bit more brighter and not too boring looking, although the purse also comes in black and a pink snakeskin type print. It has a lovely gold detail with the "RI" logo and trim of gold design at the corners of the flap on the top of the purse to make it look quite elegant.
To open and close the purse, there is a popper type facility which closes it shut and opens it up. I have found this to be really durable and secure.Inside the bag has a red leather lining, and folds into three parts. On one side is a zip pocket which extends along the length of the purse and I can fit all kinds of coins etc in there which is ideal for me as I like to separate my coins and notes. In the middle section there are slots for bank cards, drivers licence etc I have lots of cards from loyalty cards (you name it, I have it! Boots advantage card, nectar card, superdrug, bodyshop etc) and about 3 different bank cards as well as my drivers licence and as there are only 8 slots there aren't actually enough for all I have. However the slots are big enough that I can easily fit 2 cards inside each slot quite easily so this isn't too much of a hassle for me. There is also a little window which is transparent in the purse next to these card slots which I like as I love carrying around a little baby picture of my daughter in it as it reminds me of good times when she couldn't talk lol!
In the third compartment is just a big pocket which extends along the inside of the purse. This is where I can harbour all my many receipts, coupons and where I usually keep stamps. I am awful at throwing things away and can collect about 50 + receipts before it feels tight to close and I start to realise maybe I have a few unnecessary ones and actually I can throw some away! This is good, however as my old purse I could hold about 5 and then they went into an envelope at home until I was bothered to sort through them.
I really like this purse and we have already had some good times together, but my only problem is the dimensions! The width is 21cm and the height is 11cm. It is rather long, and so when I am on a night out, fitting this into a clutch bag is a really big no no lol. It just about gets into the opening of my Marc B bag (see earlier review!) with some ease but some little satchels and cute shoulder bags I own, putting this in is tricky so it is much more well suited to when I go out with my life saving handbags! I sometimes pop to the shops as I drive and will carry with me just this purse, my phone in my pocket and my keys and it looks nice and expensive due to the RI logo on the outer lid so as an item on it's own it is ideal.
I think I have had this about 2/3 months now and it has seen some bashing but overall it is still in excellent condition. Around the edges I have noticed some slight marking where it has gotten a bit darker from dirt, or being carried around in my black bag which has a black lining but as a whole it still looks pretty decent and I know I will get much more usage out of it. I love River Island purses and I really think this is a steal at only £10 so I would definitely recommend it and I am glad I got mine!
