“ Brand: Stylist Pick / Type: Across Shoulder Bag „
I went through a phase of impulsively snapping up offers on Groupon, and one of those lead me to discover the website Stylist Pick. I signed up with a reduced rate membership which credited me for three full purchases from their range of items specifically selected by leading celebrity stylists in the fashion industry. When I joined the site they were only stocking shoes and handbags, but they have since expanded their lines to also include accessories, jewellery and womens wear. This "Janey" handbag was one of the items that I chose to purchase after receiving a recommendation for it in my monthly highlights.
Taking inspiration from the huge buzz around the Olympics in London last year, a lot of the summer fashions chose to follow a modern, sporty look and fashion editors everywhere went wild for the "sports luxe" trend. As well as being a big fan of the this look, I like some of the colour combinations that are popular within this style, my favourite being monochrome shades like black, white or grey, teamed with a bright pop of colour. I really like the overall style of this bag as it does have a sporty look to it and the design is quite clean and simple looking. It is very large and looks like a classy version of a gym bag, updated with stylish materials and colours. It has a long shoulder strap with a buckle section so you can adjust it to be your preferred length, and this can also be removed by simply unclipping it. There are also two smaller handles at the top of the handbag which can be used to hold the bag in your hand if you prefer to carry it this way, and they are wide enough to allow you to slip your forearm through the space and nestle the bag in the nook of your elbow for yet another styling option.
The Janey bag has a white coloured main section with sherbet yellow coloured front sections. The straps are white and all of the hardware fittings are in a shiny silver coloured metal which gives a nice clean cut look. This bag is made of a faux leather material, and the different coloured sections also have different finishes to them which creates a nice bit of contrast. The white sections have a perfectly smooth surface, and the yellow sections have a large grained texture. There is a full length zip with a handy pull tab, which runs along the top of the bag. Inside, there is a small open pouch pocket which is perfect for storing a mobile phone, and another secure zipped pocket which I use to keep my house keys and travel cards safe and separate from the main bulk of stuff that I carry around with me. This bag is ridiculously spacious and it's useful to have these little pockets to enable you to place important items within easy reach. Because of its large size I did use this bag frequently and it served well to carry all sorts of things around in, managing to comfortably hold my day to day bits and pieces for work as well as text books for my evening class and occasionally even my gym kit too. The structure of the bag is solid and holds its shape well no matter how much or how little is being held inside of it.
I was a little bit worried about the white material as I thought it would easily show up any little marks or damage through general usage, but in terms of appearance the bag remained in excellent condition and only showed a few darkened edges around the lower parts of the bag. Unfortunately, my main problem with this bag was that the components used were of a poor quality and broke after a fairly short period of use. In this case the main zip which closes the bag became faulty and the teeth misaligned so that regardless of which way I pulled the zip, it remained open at all times. It is useless to have a bag that cannot close securely, and I have since given up using it as it's not practical to leave the top open. I have had a similar experience with a previous item that I purchased through Stylist Pick and it leads me to think that their items are more likely to be a case of style over substance, and although they look great and have neat design features, they are not long lasting and I would be very cautious about choosing to make another purchase with them in the future.
I really like this bag as the design is attractive and the large size makes it really versatile for the sort of occasions where you need to drag lots of belongings around with you. I was really disappointed when the zip broke as the rest of the bag seemed to be well constructed and durable. Recommended for looks but the short lifespan is a huge let down.
so i was one of the lucky ones who managed to get a stylist pick janey handbag. Woohoo!
First off i was majorly impressed with stylist pick, i got free next day delivery and points so that when i buy 5 things i get 1 thing free! the next day my bag arrived and it came in designer packaging. With a holdall bag with "stylist pick" emblazened across the front and inside a bag with the bag inside it. Also provided was a dustsheet and a card to tell me which bag i bought and a free lip gloss! i was majorly impressed. The bag itself is gorgeous! its like a large bowler bag tote and is yellow and beigey cream in colour. There is plenty of room inside and the bag has that "new bag" smell! Lovely!
