“ Brand: Ted Baker / Type: Tote „
If you are lusting over a ted baker bag but aren't so keen on the price the bowcon tote has probably caught your eye as it is by far the cheapest bag that ted baker make and probably most commonly seen on girls arms. The bowcon bag comes in a small and large size but in this review I will be reviewing the small style as this is the one that I own. The bag is available in lots of different colours and patterns all sporting a large bow across the top which also comes in differemt colours and even glitter covered designs. I own a really pale pink main bodied bag with the plqin black bow as I tend tonlike simpler more classic combinations but there is definitely a design for you if you like it bright and blingy. The bag is made from a patent shiny plastic like material that wipes easily and holds its shape well, the bow detailing is in the same material. On the inside top part there is black script font that read 'you've really got a hold of me' which is a cute quirky feature ted baker do so well. The bag is rectangular and open topped in a shoper style, I would much prefer if it had a zip as I don't like to carry my phone or purse in an open bag. Along with the bow detail on the outside there is also the ted baker logo, a nice bit of advertising for them! The top of the bag has two small straps which unless you have super skinny arms are far too small to wear on your shoulder which is another negative for me as it feels pretty awkward holding it in my hand. The inside of the bag isn't really big enough to hold more than your phone, keys and a small purse so definitely not one if you carry a lot with you. The bag is available from ted baker stores and department stores such as house of fraser and john lewis. I bought mine direct from store and paid £25 for it last December. For a ted baker bag this is really reasonable and I was happy to pay that for the bag. Overall its turned out to be a bag I hardly ever use as its far too small and I really don't like that it doesn't have a zip. I can see thelarger version would be good for someone at college or uni to carry around folders and books but this one really is too small. I could see a young teen would love it as its designer and cute looking so maybe it would be better aimed at them. That said its good quality and easy to keep clean plus theres no denying its cute stylish looks. The variety of colours is also a plus in my book and they frequently release different ones. I am deducting 1 star as I don't like the size or lack of size and I never use it but thats more down to me than the bag it may well be perfect for someone else.
I've had my little PVC bow tote bag from Ted Baker for a couple of years now. My little bag is black with a cream bow on the front, like the Dooyoo picture above, and they were also available in other colourways at the time. My little Ted Baker bow tote bag was £25 at the time. The little bag is quite a funky little bag, it's shiny black PVC with a cream PVC bow on the top edge. It has 'Ted Baker London' written in cream on the both sides of the bag at the bottom, 'you've really got a hold on me' written in cream on the inside of the bag, and 'No Ordinary Designer Bag' written in cream down both sides of the bag. It actually reminds me of a Bloomingdales Little Brown Bag in styling, as it's virtually identical in shape and size. It's a square boxy bag that will sit stand up flat on the floor or on a table on it's flat bottom. It has two handheld carrying handles in the same shiny black PVC as the bag itself, these are only long enough to either carry by hand or just to hook over and carry it in the crook of your arm, you can't carry it on your shoulder as the straps are not long enough. I normally carry mine in the crook of my arm as the square edges of the bag are actually quite sharp, and I find that they can leave a bruise if I catch myself on the leg with them if I'm carrying it by hand. It's not the largest bag in the world, it's just really designed as a tote bag for your lunch and other bits and bats, or as a small hand held handbag. It doesn't have a fastening clasp or a zip on the top, it's a completely open bag, so if you are putting your purse and other valuables in here then you need to be very careful. If I do use this as my handbag for the day then I will always ensure that my purse, car keys, phone etc are all at the bottom the bag and that I have a scarf or something in the top to cover everything. Although I've just said that it's a small bag it is deceptively roomy, I can fit a book or my kindle, a small size magazine, spare flat ballet pumps, my lunch and a drink in this comfortably to take with me to work. If I'm using this as my handbag for the day then I can fit all of the junk I normally carry around with me in it. Being PVC it's easy to just wipe clean with a wet one or a baby wipe, however it does scuff quite easily, mine has quite a few scuffs on it from just general wear and tear. Most of the scuffs are white and so this does detract from the look of the bag the more scuffed it gets over time, and I have to admit that the more scuffed my bag has got the less I tend to use it. I mainly use it to supplement my handbag now, for carrying my lunch and bits and bats to work. I have been pleased on the whole with this little tote bag. My main gripe is really how easily it seems to scuff, especially for the quite high price of £25. And then to a lesser extent how sharp the edges of the bag are, as I've had a few scratches and bruise from catching myself with the corners of the bag.
~Admiring The Bag~ Last year whilst browsing House of Fraser, I simply fell in love with a sweetie type cart full of Ted Baker tote bags and cases. There were so many gorgeous designs but I couldn't justify buying one at the time. For my birthday this year, my sister asked if I would like one of the bags and I couldn't say no! ~Belieta Small Bowcon Tote~ The Ted Baker range of tote bags is quite extensive. There are various designs and colours available but I have the Belieta Small Bowcon Tote which is black and gold with glitter though you can purchase it in other colours/finishes. My bag is a smaller version of the large tote bag offered by Ted Baker. It measures 25 x 24 x 12cm and a drop of 18cm. It is made of 100% polyvinyl and can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth. ~Price and Availability~ At present, this particular bag but with a different coloured bow, is available to purchase from www.houseoffraser.co.uk priced at £25.00. Other bags in this range are around £29.00. ~My Thoughts~ I originally had my eye on the larger version of this tote bag but it was out of stock so my sister ordered me this one. I like to take a bag of some sort out with me on a daily basis and favour tote bags. I was concerned at first that I wouldn't be able to get used to this bag as it is smaller than what I would normally buy and also that I couldn't carry it on my shoulders. The quality of the bag is okay. For a Ted Baker product, I would have expected better. The polyvinyl is fairly thick and looking but if you look from the inside out, it is quite see through. The handles aren't the best. They are thick and a bit stiff at first. Having owned this bag for around 7 weeks now, I am quite disappointed to notice it splitting down one corner. The bag scuffs easily too and being black, the scuffs show up clearly. The inside of the bag is made of a polyvinyl, thin lining which is actually glittery. The glitter does transfer as I have noticed when my taking a sparkly mobile out of my bag! There is a small, thin zip pocket inside the bag which is big enough for some loose change and keys. This isn't the most secure of bags as it does feature an open top so not something one would choose to store a passport or holiday tickets. Basically nothing important. The actual design of the bag is attractive but won't appeal to all. The outside of the bag has a smooth finish with a glittery appearance. Imprinted in gold writing at the bottom of the bag is 'Ted Baker London' and at the top near the handles is a gorgeous, gold glittery bow. The bow looks quite classy and has remained inplace and undamaged. The bag doesn't look too cheap despite being glittery in appearance. I use this bag on a daily basis and it goes with most of my rather small, non fashionable wardrobe! It is my main bag and I take it out with me when I go shopping, to do the nursery run etc. I have gotten used to the fact that I need to carry this by my side as opposed to over my shoulder but I do still prefer a shoulder tote. The length of the handles is fine for this purpose and have become more comfortable to use over time even if they do appear a bit mishaped! This tote bag is suprisingly spacious. It wouldn't be big enough for using for college nor would I recommend placing heavy books in it. It is a good size for carrying around my purse, mobile, a bottle of water, perfume and also my Slimming World book or an A4 magazine. I very rarely need to have anything particularly bulky or heavy in it and the handles have remained secure. I am at a loss as to how it has split at one corner though as I am very careful with it. It is easy to wipe over to keep clean. ~Conclusion~ I would say that whilst I love the design of this bag and feel quite fashionable taking it out with me on a daily basis, I do find that the quality is a little disappointing. I am aware that this is the one of the cheaper Ted Baker ranges but this shouldn't mean a lesser quality product in my opinion. I feel £25.00 is a fair price for a stylish tote bag but given the split that has appeared, I am doubting the quality of the materials used. 4 stars - thanks for reading :)
