The Ted Baker range comprises of men and womens clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery, and even bathing and skincare products. They have a line of tote bags which are released in various patterns for each new season, as well as the solid colour Bow Tote bags. I loved the look of this Bow Ikon Tote Bag and purchased it earlier this year as a treat to myself, from www.very.co.uk for the RRP of £35.00. This is somewhat expensive for a basic tote bag, but is at the low end of the scale when it comes to the pricing for Ted Baker handbags. The Bow Ikon bag has a simple design that is practical enough to suit being used with almost any outfit, and when I bought mine it came in a choice of two neutral colour options. There was a nude pink version with grey bow, and a black version with nude pink bow. I chose the black option as I thought that this would match in well against the other items in my wardrobe, and I figured that it would be less likely to be marked and show up any stains as could happen with a lighter colour bag. There are also a few size options to choose from, with a larger hold-all type bag, and a small almost lunch-bag sized tote. It's worth noting that the colour options change from season to season so that you can easily update your look and fit in with the latest colour trends. Now, for example, there is an additional colour option of deep pink as well as the ones I mentioned earlier, and there is another set of bow tote bags which have a gem-studded bow design. The bag itself has a lovely appearance, and is made of a thick shiny patent material. Remember the plastic waterproof bag that you had to keep your swimming kit in when you were a kid? It's like a grown up, sturdier version of that. And yes, it did give off that same weird plasticy smell for a while after I had purchased it, although thankfully it does fade away after a short while of use. The bag has two long handles on top to allow you to wear it slipped over your shoulder, or if you prefer you could hook it over your forearm, or just carry it in your hand. This particular design seems to be very popular, as even in my small town I have seen several people carrying the same bag as me, and one of my friends liked it so much that as soon as she saw mine she went out and bought one exactly the same. The shiny material is eyecatching and gives quite a glamorous finish to the otherwise plain look of the bag, and with the added touch of a large 3D bow on the front this adds a nice girly touch. The bow is quite large and stands out against the edge of the handbag, with a large rose gold coloured pyramid stud holding it in position. The bag is finished really nicely, with small details like this showing the quality of the product. The branding is fairly obvious but not too overstated, with the Ted Baker logo in script writing on the front, and some more text about the store locations on the sides of the bag. The bag does not have any fastening to close the two sides together, so it does remain open at the top. This is not the most secure option, and it also has the unfortunate downside of being completely useless in bad weather, as the rain drops straight into it! I think this is a bit of an oversight, and it can be a pain if you are using the bag and not expecting any rain. It's not so bad if I am out and have an umbrella with me as this will cover me and the bag, but I have been caught out before and had some paperwork and a book get damp from where the rain had gone in. An easy fix for this is to take an old plastic carrier bag and keep this tucked inside the handbag so that if it does start to rain you can just spread the carrier bag over the top of any items inside the tote, but this is a bit fussy and it's a shame that there is no way to securely close the bag. A simple zip closure across the top would have made this a 5-star product. The tote has a solid structure with a flat base and side sections so that it can open out and allows plenty of room for carrying items inside. I find that I can fit a generous amount of items into the bag, and I use it regularly because it is so practical. I often take it to work to carry my everyday bits and pieces around, and I have also used it as an overnight bag when I needed to take a change of clothes and a washbag. There is only one pocket space inside the bag, and this comes in the form of a zipped pouch which is attached to the upper inner edge of the back panel of the bag. There is enough room inside to fit a mobile phone, or keys and travel cards etc, but the flat shape of it means that it is not very roomy, and I tend to just keep most of my items in the main section of the bag, so I do have to root around a bit if I need to find something that has sunk to the bottom or shifted over to one side. Although the bag is quite large and can hold plenty of items inside, I do find that if I store the bag away without using it for a while, the lack of any objects inside can cause it to flop out of shape a little, and it will then readjust as soon as I fill it with things again. I think this is a lovely bag that is pretty and practical, and I love it. I am really happy with how it looks, and it can easily hold a whole bunch of stuff which means that I can use it all the time for work, days out, and overnight stays. With the gifting season upon us, I think this would be a great present idea for any hard-to-buy-for young ladies in your life.
My husband bought me this Ted Baker bag a few months ago for me to carry my lunch to and from work. I'd seen them a few times previously and had always thought that they were very pretty so I was made up when he offered to buy it for me at an outlet Ted Baker store for £20. I've seen it previously for sale for over £30! I opted for a black bag with a light pink bow attached to the side - at the time it was also available in light pink with a black bow and white, the yellow one shown here was not on sale at the time. The bag was available in two sizes - small and large and I opted for the larger one as the small one didn't look as though it would hold much at all. The large one is around 37cm high, 37cm wide and 10cm deep so it's a size that I find just right to fit my lunch in as well as a few little extras that I may need for work. It's very basic really - it's a shopper style bag with no extra pockets. It's made of very thick PVC plastic that doesn't bend easily so the bag is very rigid and strong. The bow detail on the side is also made of the same plastic, as are the two straps at the top of the bag. The straps are quite thick and long enough to be able to pop the bag over my shoulder. With the straps being so rigid though, I did find it very hard to sit it comfortably on my shoulder at first but as time has gone on, I've got a little more used to it being there although the straps are still very rigid and the plastic hasn't given at all. With the bag being so rigid too, I found that at first it really needed opening out by hand to make way for my things before using - the bag was left quite flat otherwise. After continuous use for a few weeks it did become wider in the end but the rigid feel is still there. From general use over a few months it has now started to look quite worn. For example, the bag has 'Ted Baker London' written at the bottom and that logo has started to wear away slightly. Originally I thought that the PVC material of the bag would mean that it was easily cleaned but I've also not found that to be the case. Mine has collected a number of scuff marks across it too from being picked up and placed down on the floor, although they aren't quite as noticeable with being on the black plastic - I would expect those to have shown up pretty badly on the lighter colours available though. Wiping clean with a damp cloth doesn't always remove marks that it picks up as the instructions advise. All that said, I do really like the look of this bag. I just don't feel that it's design is all that great as it does have some issues, particularly with how rigid the plastic is for everyday use. I feel that although £20 isn't too bad for something from the Ted Baker brand, it still should be designed with use in mind first and foremost, something I feel has been overlooked. I feel this has been designed as a fashion bag rather than for practicality. I wouldn't have been happy if he'd paid over £30 for it. I think overall I probably expected a little more with it being such a huge brand as well. I've rated it two stars overall because I think the bag is average and I have been quite disappointed. Thanks for reading :o)
I received this Ted Baker Large Bow Ikon bag as a present this Christmas together with the matching wash bag. As soon as I open the wrapping, I know I'm gonna love the present and that I will get a lot of use out of this bag. I have seen Ted Baker shopper / bag ranges in the local John Lewis for a long time now but resisted buying them because for one, I don't really need any more bags, and for two, I should waste money on things I do really need. However, receiving this as a present is very welcoming. The bag I have received as a present is the same as the one shown in the picture above, but with a different colour scheme. My shopper is white/ cream colour in the body with the black bow. I am also aware of various colour schemes these bags come in, I have seen a coral coloured one as well as black body/ white bow and a baby pink one. So, the Ted baker lovers are spoilt for choice really. From my research, these shoppers are retailed at prices ranging from £20.00 to £39.00, depending on where you purchase it from and the availability of your favourite colour scheme. As for the shopper itself, the material is PVC/ hard plastic that is quite obvious from the looks alone. The advantage of this material is it is very easy to clean, water-proof and remains sturdy if I put a lot of things inside. However, the drawback of this PVC material is that sometimes, the sharp edges poke into my ribs if I am carrying this bag on my shoulder, and it can be a bit cumbersome. The bag's dimensions are Width 37cm x Height 37cm x Depth 13cm, and speaking from my experience, it can hold a lot of things. It comes in quite handy for a student, because it fits a lot of A4 files/ folders and I can use this double as a bag and a stylish accessories to go with my outfit. It also contains an internal zipper for small items such as keys and mobile phones. The only thing I have to say is that it is not the safest bag to use if you are travelling because it doesn't have a zipper to hide all the important items such as purses. Overall, I love this shopper and I have a lot of use out of it. It is very stylish and iconic, notwithstanding the stylish 'Ted Baker' script printed at the front. When the summer truly comes around, I imagine this shopper will make a great beach bag for a day splashing and bathing in the sun. Recommended for anyone who wants something practical yet stylish at the same time. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. :) x
I bought this bag, when it first came out a few years back, when it was only sold in the colour cream and black. I absolutely loved this bag, as i was taking it to college at the time; it was large enough to carry all my books around and looked incredibly stylish, i could not have asked much more. The bag is made from a cream plastic material with a black bow on the front, along the side it lists all the Ted Baker shops locations and inside above the pocket, the words you've got a hold on me, which i thought was quite a cute little touch. I was slightly worried with the bag being cream it may get scuffed and dirty very quickly, especially with me taking it to college everyday, but in actually fact it never, i was pleasantly surprised. It did get a few what looked to be scuff marks on the underneath but they were not visible thanks to the plastic coating over the top of the bag. I was very pleased with the bag, it was living up to be more than i hoped for and was only £25. As the year went on and i began putting more and more books in it, i noticed the handles where beginning to tear from the weight, so i had to stop using it as due to the material it could not be repaired and did not want to go spilling my books everywhere. I was rather disappointed that it broke, but i would say it was my fault, as there was a fair amount of weight in there and these are just fashion bags. Overall i would say this bag is perfect, it was very chic with a sophisticated twist, and i would highly recommend this, but do not over fill it otherwise it will break.
I was bought this bag as a birthday present from my little boy ( very fashionable for a 2 year old) and I love it!!! I got the black bag with the cream bow and writing. It is made from a shiny plastic ( looks better than it sounds). It's one of those bags you can use with almost anything casual or smart. My only problems with this bag are it doesn't fasten on the top so if your clumsy like me and drop it all your contents could spill out, it isn't very flexible due to the material it's made from ( as I figured out when I tried to pack it for my holidays) and lastly my straps have begun to break and show the elastic underneath. I believe this is completely my fault as I probably over filled the bag making it heavy and it was permanently stuck on my arm since they day I got it. The big plus point for me was the easiness to keep clean. For all you mums who know how sticky baby sick is this bag just wipes clean very easily. I love this bag and the accessories that go with it and will be most defiantly putting another on my christmas list.
This bag normally retails at around £35, which with a designer label is very reasonable. So you can imagine my delight when I spotted it in the Ted Baker outlet store in the Bicester shopping village, Oxfordshire for £20. The outlet also gives a 10% discount for students, so my daughter kindly offered the use of her NUS card which meant my bag cost £18. The bag comes in several colours and is made of a thick, durable, patent plastic (which doesn't sound too appealing, but trust me it looks very stylish). It has a zipped pocket inside that is probably meant for loose change or maybe a mobile phone. It is also easy to wipe clean, should you spill anything on it. On the day that I bought my bag, the Bicester outlet had them in three different sizes and in four different colours - black with cream bow + writing, cream with a black bow + writing, cerise with a red bow + writing and red with a dusky pink bow + writing. I chose the black bag because I wear a lot of black and cream and its perfect for work, casual or smart occasions. If you like to have co-ordinating accessories you can buy purses that match the bags, complete with a bow. I have used mine extensively and so far it is not showing any signs of wear and tear. If you buy one, whatever the colour or size, you won't regret it.
I paid £20.00 for this bag that normally retaiols for £35 at the Bicester Village Retail Park which can be a haven for bargains and this was no exception. The bag comes in a number of different colour varieties however in the shop they only had the balck and white version or the yellow and white version that you can see in the picture above. I opted for the matt black bag as I could not imagine having too many outfits that the rather gawdy yellow one would match with. It is a deep black colour with a white bow on the side, dimensions wise it is about 13cm deep and 37cm square. This is an over the shoulder style of bag that has a decent enough amount of storage space and inside there is a small zipped pocket to secure your valuables like money and phone. The pocket is a little on the small size however it is plenty big enough for my phone and credit cards so that is all it really needs to hold. The detail on the bow is nicely done and it has a metal stud through the centre to secure it, the only other detail on the bag is the Ted Baker name across the lower part of the bag. It is made from tough PVC so it can be wiped clean if it gets any marks and it is a nice everyday bag for going around town with. Due to the fact that it is open at the top you do have to ensure that any valuables are in the zipped segment The handle straps are comfortable enough and provided you do not overload the bag with heavy items they do not dig into my shoulders. This is a nice stylish bag which I felt was a good purchase at £20.00.
Ted Baker Large Bow Ikon Bag - currently £35 I was given this bag as a late gift for my birthday as I needed a new bag to carry my things to university in. It has a square shape and is 37 cm wide, 37 cm high and 13 cm deep. Ted Baker describes the bag as a shopper, with a contrasting coloured bow; I absolutely adore the bow on it. This is what first attracted me to the bag. (My sister his it in Bright pink and coral - but they had sold out of this colour combination when she was buying mine). The bag does have one small internal zipped pocket which was useful for keeping my phone in, but I would have liked it to be larger so I could put my purse in it also, (this would have been possible with a small change purse but not the big monstrosity that I use). I have the bag in black, and white. The body of the bag is black, and the bow and branding are in white. Ted Baker is written in italics, with London (not italicised) written underneath. The bow is attached with a metal stud, and the bag is 100% PVC. As such it can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, and is very hard wearing, mine has had a battering, and it still holds it's shape, and is wearing well. The bag is also available in: Black and white, Pink (bright) and coral, Yellow and White, Coral and pink and Baby pink and dusky pink - according their website. Although I do love this bag I personally feel that the handles are just a little shorter than I would like. The bag if filled with bulky things tends not to sit very well under my arm - but this can be forgiven as it lovely to look at.
