I have been using the Acer Iconia A500 for about six months now and I'm sad to say it has become an integral part of my day to day life! It is always there ready to be used, to quickly look things up, make internet purchases or play games on, sometimes it is too easy!
I am writing this review now on the Acer iconia with no extra keyboards or attachments, just the QWERTY keyboard. It responds quickly and has a very clear screen which is expandable.
This tablet is much cheaper than other, we paid less than £300 for ours and it has the larger memory size available. I would not say that having a large internal memory was essential however, as the tablet itself has a USB slot and multisize memory card slot. We use an external hard drive to plug in via USB and watch movies on the tablet. We have downloaded an app called Mx player for this and it works perfectly. One of the great things about this tablet is the battery life, I was able to watch movies back to back for ten hours on a very long trip to france before it ran out of battery. Even then I used an adapter in the car and was able to fully charge it in around an hour!
I particularly value the versatility of the android system over other, fruit based varieties, as it allows us to play a multitude of different media and apps without converting them. We have 100's of movies and songs which we can now play through the tablet with ease. We also bought the Acer docking station and speakers to turn it into a sort of multimedia system!
I have been able to download flash player which allows me to watch BBC I player and 4od very easily.
The camera can be used on either side of the tablet and takes some very clear pictures and movie footage. The dual core processor is also very useful and allows you to run two things simultaneously.
Overall, it may not be as cool as an iPad but it still looks good and does everything you could need, and more!
This tablet is great for the amount of money you pay. It has a Dual Core Tegra 2 processor that makes it one of the fastest tablets available (although slower than the iPad 2). This tablet can run graphically intense games, such as Dungeon Defenders, with no lag at all. It also has a front and back camera, which you can use to take pictures with, or video chat with friends. The only bad thing about this tablet, is that the screen is of lower quality than other tablets. I did not notice the screen's quality, but you may. This tablet is cheaper than similar tablets, such as the Xoom. If you're new to android, this tablet may be slightly hard to use at first. The tablet is not very heavy, and comes with a usb port and micro sd slot. These are useful, as you can transfer files from your PC to your tablet, using the micro sd slot, or the usb port. You will have to use an app from the Android Marketplace to do this for you.
