Advantages: Nice size, easy to use, easy to read

Disadvantages: None

My lovely Other Half bought me a surprise present for Christmas, a Kindle. It is something that I have wanted for a long time but I hadn't been asking for one as I needed a new laptop so I was asking for that for Christmas and I was going to save up and buy myself a kindle during the year if I could afford it. But now I won't have to.

The one I have is the Wi-Fi 6" one and its really nice. I love reading books, mostly at night when I am in bed but I have bad arms, I have trouble holding my book up so I can read it as my shoulders and elbows hurt so much but with this new kindle being so small and compact it is just right for me to hold comfortably. The buttons on the side are in an easy place to be able to turn the pages over and it is comfortable to use them.

The ink on the kindle is really good, the background is like a grey colour and the ink shows up really well. You still need a light on to be able to read but I have not suffered any eye strain while using it. You can change the size of the font if it is too small so this is really good too as if I am reading with my varifocal lens glasses on I can make the font a bit larger so it is easy enough to read. When I am in bed with no glasses on I hold the kindle nearer to me and I can see perfect with the text at the normal setting.

To charge up the Kindle you plug the usb into the computer and it charges itself up. The battery is good and lasts long enough to be able to read over night without it cutting out. I havent tried to see how long it actually lasts though.

The menu system on this kindle is easy to use although the on screen keyboard is a bit of a faff to use. You have the keyboard come up and then you use the directional button on the front of the keyboard to maneuver your way around the keys. I found I didn't have to use it for much though, just really to register the kindle to my account on Amazon and to put in the password for the WiFi at home.

Where my OH had bought the Kindle through his Amazon account it was coming up with his name on the top of the Kindle but this was easy enough to change it all over so that it connected to my own account.

I had a look at the Kindle store through the Kindle itself but decided I would have a look on the actual Amazon site to see if it was easier. I found it really easy to buy books this way. I have gift certificates on my account anyway as I earn them through out the year on various sites online. You can use this gift cert balance to pay for your books with a one click payment. What you do is you look for the books in the store that you want to buy then click on the one click buy and it puts it into your account ready for you to download it to your Kindle. Then next time you turn the WiFi on on the Kindle the books download automatically.

Altogether I am really pleased with my Kindle. I have made myself a nice pouch to keep it in to keep it clean and help protect it, I would recommend this Kindle, it is a good size, it will fit in your handbag or pocket and is easy to use. It currently costs £89 to buy on Amazon.
