Amazon Kindle Ink Display
Advantages: Like a walking libary, Light weight, easy to use
I was initially against the idea of a kindle, for me the actual book was important i enjoyed turning the pages and the smell of a old book. My partner bought me a Kindle for the birthday when i had guessed what he had bought me i was a little disappointed at first!
Since i first started using it i have loved my kindle, the first time i used i properly was on holiday in Crete, i typically read on average around 4 books on holiday from the moment i wake to the moment i sleep and it must add some weight in my suitcase. Before I left I downloaded all the books I had wanted to read i added about 20 in total.
Adding the books?
I am very good with computers and technology and found adding the books really easy. You have a couple of choices of how to add them, you can log onto the kindle website via the kindle and download, go online and order through amazon and download them. However i have found a unique free software called Calibre where you can download books doesn't matter which format i.e for ipad and other e-readers. It changes the format so that you can read it on the kindle which saves a lot of time if you have for example an i pad and a kindle as you only have to pay for the book once and could use it on either device. Its really worth downloading. If you have windows 8 you can also download use the kindle 8 tile on your home screen where you can log onto your kindle account which i also find very useful.
Kindle Vs Tablet
Personally i like the fact that it has e-ink display and you need a light to read in the dark which i purchased of eBay for around £1.50 which attaches to my kindle case. It also makes it feel more like a real book. A lot of the Tablets have bright white displays as do some of the new kindles, however i find with the screen being to bright after a lot of reading it hurts my eyes and it drains the battery a lot more. I didn't want to replace reading and i find with this original kindle it still feels like i have a book and am not using 1 device for everything.
The battery life on the kindle is fantastic i charge it hardly ever and i didn't need to charge it all for the whole of my 1 week holiday and i read easily 6 hours a day.
Navigating the kindle is really easy and it saves the last page you were on which is also very handy. The volume of books you can download is phenomenal i can a huge amount of books and pick and choose which ones i want to read.
The size of kindle is brilliant too as it not too big and fits into your handbag easy, also because of the weight it doesn't weigh your bag down.
As much as i love reading real books i do love my kindle and find it so versatile and even if i read book at home i dont think i could go on holiday without it.
