I have had my Amazon Kindle Keyboard for almost 2 and a half years to data - and I love it. Before I purchased my Kindle I had fallen out of the habit of reading. I just didn't have the time to go to book shop or library and push my way through the jumbled shelves to find something worth reading.
This all changed with the Kindle. Books are easy to buy, and while some may see the fact the Amazon basically has a direct line to my credit card as a drawback, I see it as the ultimate in simplicity. Getting new books is quick and easy, and can be done from anywhere on the Amazon website. Although it can be bought on the device, I would not recommend this as the screen is often slow to refresh and typing is pretty poor on the cramped keyboard.
The reading experience is really excellent. The lack of a backlight requires there to be some form of light on the screen for it to illuminate, but this is not a big issue unless you enjoy reading in the dark. Changing page by pushing the buttons on the side of the device has become as natural to me as flipping a page on a book used to be. Some may feel that they miss the look and feel of a traditional book, and that reading on a device is not the same. To these, I would simply ask how they define a book. To me, it is not the paper and the bindings that make a book, but the words and the story within. Once consumed in a good story the device takes the backseat, leaving centre stage for the story to shine through. Within minutes the fact you are reading on a device is lost and you simply enjoy the book for what it is - a story.
The biggest benefit of the device, for me, is the ecosystem of apps that amazon has built up. This means I can read from anywhere, on my phone, tablet, laptop, or from any web browser. It really will change your life.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough, and ask that you go and buy it immediately!
