The iPad 2, should you get one? Is it simply a large iPhone/smart phone? Il never get used to not having a keyboard? Can get other tablets for cheaper! These were my views on the iPad 2 until I owned one myself.
First of all and most importantly, I would like to emphasise what an outstanding piece of gadgetry. Stunning to look at, reasonably light weight and so user friendly that my 86 year old grandfather was able to operate it who has never even used a laptop.
Enough of the praising and let's get to the facts.
I received the 32gb iPad 2 wifi in white for Christmas 2011. Since then, it has barely been out my hands. It is so functional and diverse that I see no need to now use the Samsung laptop I also own. My main worry was that I would only use it for leisure purposes and find it difficult to get used to the smaller screen and no external keyboard. How wrong was I, everything i do online/computer related has been shifted onto my iPad and it has had no problems handling every task it is confronted with.
Additionally I thought it would simply be like having a large iPhone as at first instance that is all it appears to be. In response to this, I would say an iPhone is simply a smaller much less powerful/useful iPad. There has yet to be something I have not found an app for or the iPad has not been able to do since I have got it. Although, it does not support java, which some people may find frustrating. For myself, I really only use YouTube for videos and apps for games so this problem has yet to affect me.
As for cost, it is reasonably pricey, but if you upgrade to the 32gb I would say you are getting your moneys worth. For an extra £50 you get double the storage and an outstanding piece of machinery. The 32gb would be recommended to people who wish to archive a large music/video/photo collection on the device as these do take up a lot of room. If your budget can't stretch that far, get the 16gb and store your stuff elsewhere.
I hope this has been useful and I have tried to project a true, unbiased view of the iPad from a students point of view. I would thoroughly recommend the iPad 2 to all people of all ages and I could all for hours. I would recommend not basing your decision on reviews alone, go to any ipad supplier and try it out yourself. A lot of the time online, people only post videos and reviews about something they have had a bad experience with and the true image of a product can quickly be brought down.
I would recommend the iPad 2 to anyone and everyone, thanks for taking the time to read this review and hopefully I have described the product in a way in which truly reflects my opinion.
Typed using and ipad2, and enjoyed every minute of it:)
Summary: 5 start product, everyone should own one.
