Whether you're an avid user of Android or not, if you're looking at buying a tablet it's almost impossible not to consider the iPad 2. Not only because the iPad popularized the tablet form factor and is the current market leader by a wide margin, but simply because it remains the standard by which devices in the category are designed and built. Despite the hoopla, as one might imagine the iPad 2 isn't without its faults. The much-anticipated cameras (which have no flash) leave plenty to be desired both in resolution and image quality. The display, though very high quality and incredibly responsive, lacks the resolution and crispness of both its little brother, the iPhone 4, as well as its competitors. And iOS, which used to lead the pack in mobile platforms, has its own set of weaknesses to deal with (such as its inelegant notification system, or lack of live updating widgets).Fortunately, software can be fixed and improved, and Apple has done well by its customers in issuing regular updates to the vast majority of its products still in use. Apple's experience in mobile devices also made it able to increase the iPad 2's horsepower significantly without sacrificing battery life. I was able to recently travel halfway across the country while using 3G and playing movies, and upon reaching my destination still well over half the battery left. Tablets, like cellphones, are a holistic experience. They're greater than the sum of their parts, and if anything is out of place, the overall experience can be dramatically impacted. In that sense, the iPad 2 remains one of the most unspoiled devices available today -- not just in the tablet category. It won't be a one horse race forever, and Google, HP, and RIM all have very strong tablet competitors out today or coming in the near future. But so far nothing on the immediate horizon seems to have the overall balance of price, performance, battery life, software, and apps that the iPad 2 has right now. Final note: my suggested config for the iPad 2 would be black 16GB with 3G (and a Smart Cover). Although it's mighty sexy, I found the white bezel to be far too distracting in use. The choice of capacity is based entirely on your own needs, but the iPad probably isn't your best choice for storing and playing back your entire music library (see: your phone); if your'e anything like me, you probably only really need room for apps and a few movies -- usually far less than 16GB. If you can afford the upgrade, 3G is an absolute must-have that transforms the iPad experience on the go.
This ipad 2 is from the brand apple which I'm positives almost everybody has heard of. If you haven't heard of it they make and sell phones (the iPhone) , computers also know as macs , laptops and other cool pieces of technology like the ipad. The iipad basically does everything your average computer ,laptop or phone does but more. It has a front and back camera so you can take regular photos and selfies. There are lots of different things you can do on it . You can search the web for whatever you want. You can watch films download app. You can play games and listen to all your favourite songs. The reason the ipad is better than a laptop is that it is lighter, more travel friendly and much more portable. They.make the perfect gift for anyone any age. Hope this helped all of you xxx Imogen.
The Ipad 2 fixed many of the issues that were present with the first edition. I am writing this review on an Ipad 2 in an Ipadception style moment of weirdness.
Pros: The HD screen is superb, visual quality is excellent. The screen is also surprisingly hardy, mine has been bashed around, dropped twice and been slept on once, and although there are a few cracks in the screen, they are practically invisible.
The variability and variety of apps is fantastic, and the various apple stores are easy to use.
Cons: There are two major cons with the Ipad 2. The major one is battery life, as it's gotten slightly older, I have found that the battery life has become shortened considerably. I just did a test, and while watching Netflix at full brightness, the life is around 4 hours, down from about 10 while new.
The other major con is that it is now slightly outdated, and not everything will run on it, though it must be said that this is only a few high performance apps and games.
Many thanks for reading.
I bought this as a gift for my partner a few years ago shortly after the ipad2 had newly come out.
It's great. Even after having a go on the new ipads that have come out since then, I would say to seriously look at buying an ipad2 rather than a newer one, as you will make a good saving, and the features are just as good.
It's perfect for web use, or for playing games such as Minecraft for the kids (though only plays the mobile/lite version of the game, which is worth bearing in mind).
Actually, if you are buying a newer ipad for yourself, I'd say get an old one for the kids, otherwise you will quickly lose your new toy to them. If you get them an older one, you won't be as sad when it gets scratched and fingerprints all over!.
There are plenty of places to buy these now, from second hand shops to ebay so there is no need to overpay, as supply is plentiful.
I bought this Ipad from a friend a few years ago and it is one of the best products I have ever bought. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product to anybody and everybody. The easy thing about an I pad is that you can take it everywhere with you. Its basically quick access to everything and especially great if you haven't got time to wait for your computer to start up and access the internet. You can even watch videos on YouTube on the go. I wouldn't say that an I pad is affordable for everyone but if you can afford one then get one. You can download apps for many things like social networking sites like Facebook and twitter or games - they are friendly for the younger age to use as well however I would recommend buying a case if you are letting young ones use this. The design of the I pad is nice its not too large and not too small and great for on the go.
I have had this iPad for over 2 years now and is still working perfectly. Excluding the occasional freeze, it is working perfectly.
I have not filled the 16BG of memory. I have loads of photos and a few albums and there is still over 6GB of memory left. I updated iOS7 on it and it works perfectly with the iPad. It picks up great wifi signal and works very fast.
The display on the iPad is crystal clear and the sound quality is great. The apps that are designed for the iPad work the best as they are made to enhance its size and resolution. It is considerably light and is very easy and portable to carry around.
Apple's software has built in anti-virus so it is far safer than androids software. There is also a wide range of apps which do not come from 3rd party users, so they are all safe and have no malware contained in them.
The battery life is amazing, depending on screen brightness and app usage but it can last up to a week without charge. It is so easy to use as the main screen is just short cuts to apps.
I would recommend the iPad to anyone, children, adults, elderly, students and business users.
This iPad was brought for me as a Christmas present, instead of the Samsung tablet I asked for. I know everyone is apple mad but I was skeptical about all the weird updates and reviews I had heard.
It straightaway impressed me with it's easy set up and full instructions. The screen Is large enough to see without struggle and it's just the right weight to carry around without being a pain.
The constant updating operation system means that I'm always up to date and ready to go so it's always a bonus. I also got myself an I phone and found that linking the two was easy and done quickly.
I love the ability to back up the data to the cloud and not worry about losing my pictures.
The battery life can dwindle quite quickly, but the easy to use charger means I can switch between plug and USB at ease. All in all e product is amazing and I couldn't ask for anything better.
Well worth the Christmas present and I recommend to anyone.!
I got this iPad two years ago and it is still working well up until now even with me using it daily. it is great for work, play and leisure and gives full access to Apple's app Store. The battery life is reasonably good, although I'm told that you would be better going for the newer iPads to get the better battery life. In terms of disadvantages, i would say that it definitely gets slower with age and I would have liked there to be other software available such as Microsoft Word. I feel that this would be extremely useful for lots of consumers.
However, the list is endless of how many things you are able to do on it and it is definitely a worthwhile buy, a perfect present. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, as I would with all Apple products because of their top quality and excellent customer service.
I was looking for an ipad for quite some time and suddenly I found this on amazon for 82 pound! Straight away bought this, it normally cost 300 in retail shops. I never liked apple products, because they never had Bluetooth, you need iTunes etc. but the fact the ipad is amazing because it never lags. Smooth as he'll. has a camera but it's not as good. Charger for the ipad charges with an hour but please done buy the fake chargers, they will take forever to charge, I mean forever. I 100% recommend this product.
The ipad was one of the best purchases I have ever made. The reason being is it is so convenient. The battery life is surprisingly very good, considering it is an Apple product and most of their battery lives are not very enviable.
I take the ipad with me nearly everywhere I go. I take it on every trip, whether work or pleasure. The device has many accessories which almost make your laptop obsolete. One being a Bluetooth keyboard you can attach. There are many on the market, so shop around. But it makes writing on it extremely simple. The ipad also has adaptors that plug into the charging socket and you can import documents and pictures from memory cards and USB sticks. For travelling for pleasure purposes this is fantastic and makes upload your pictures to various social networks and emailing, extremely easy.
Like all apple portable devices it does support flash, for people you do a lot of web browsing or watching content online. This is biggest draw back. Thankfully content is becoming more and more available in other forms and therefore available on the ipad.
The App store is full of so many great apps that it is very easy to get overwhelmed with the number of apps you have, apps that can pretty much do anything and suit any need.
Apple may have many faults but they are still trying to improve their products regularly which you see through their updates, sometimes they are hard to get used to but in the long run, very helpful.
Having waited for the iPad 2 to be released I thought I would wait a tad longer and grab the 64GB edition as am I am a huge music Fan and like the occasional movies at bed time. Im not going to bore you with the manufacturer specs as most of us have now had a dabble with touching and swiping and should be quite familar with the Apple platform.
The 64GB features a dual core A5 processor and a large 9.7 inch back-lit vivid color display. You will notice if you are a regular user of Apple products that the quality of image received on an iPad or Mac in comparison to an Android tablet or Windows PC is of much greater pixel quality which really does reflect when viewing your digital photos and videos on the move.
The simplicity, speed and overall operations of the iPad 2 make the tablet stand out from the competition, its also pretty decent with battery life, of course with all technological gizmos when were using them they are gunna use energy, I think some of us expect our gadgets to be awake when were awake although this is not always the case you will pretty much find your iPad with battery aslong as you remember to charge at least once daily.
Processing speed feels a lot faster than the previous release, Apps pop up almost instantly with very little delay in switching between, on-demand content loads considerably fast also and general web-browsing can be completed with ease.
WiFi signal is usually fine, sometimes pages take a while when running on a low signal however in a good range all content streams fine.
Very happy with my purchase and intreaged to see what Apple has in store next.
I considered this purchase for some time before deciding to take the plunge. I am not a techno geek so justifying the best part of £500 was quite tricky for me. I spent some time playing with my dads before deciding to buy. I can honestly say that I haven't looked back and genuinely could not be without it now. I use the device every day. It's brilliant for web browsing, most sites offer you their mobile versions however I sometimes find it just as easy to use the standard desktop/web versions. The battery life is acceptable, I tend to charge every evening but this is due to consistent use throughout the day. I am finding that I use the ipad more and more both in work and at home. The screen size is more than sufficient for Internet use or game play.
I can also compare this device to other tablets, we purchased a much cheaper generic android for our son to use (he loved my ipad too) the responsiveness is nothing like the apple device, the apps are more limited and screen clarity is much worse. If I had my time again I would purchase him an Apple device and we will probably do so in the near future.
The technology is so simple to use, I actually think that anyone of any age could pick up this device and get going in less than 30 minutes and within a week it will be totally irreplaceable.
The App Store is brilliant, plenty of free applications or reasonably priced ones whether it is for games or social media or general web browsing you will find an application that makes the task user friendly. The wide spread use and acceptance of the ipad means the support for the device is common place, several friends and work colleagues also use the ipad meaning that I have a community of users for hints tips and sharing of great apps.
The device is light weight and completely transportable with a range of accessories available for every need and taste.
I can not find a more true example of the saying that 'you get what you pay for' and my advice would be, do not try and save £50-100 on a cheaper tablet as the Apple product pays for itself 5 times over once you have bought!
First of all i would say its one step better than its predecessor. Advantages include its dual-core A5 chip which increases the speed dramatically and reduces your time of waiting...Waiting for example for a webpage to load due to the sheer amount of tabs to open. Reducing the amount of times it freezes on you. I noticed on the first ipad it would freeze and then the app or w/e would shut down and return to the home page. Meaning if i was working on a project i had to save my progress regularly. By regular i mean very often. On my new Ipad i fin that it rarely crashes meaning my work is immensely more efficient.
Disadvantages aka the BAD include the low battery life, however there are certain measure you can take to increase battery life. These minor inconviences seem like nothing at first but you have bought this device with your hard-earned money there expected a certain-level of quality. The low battery life problem i countered with carrying a portable battery attached to the ipad therefore it remains in "charging" mode.
On a final not i would not recommend watching TV shows, movies or playing games in the dark. Due to its nice retina display i have been led to believe it damages your eyes even further. Due to the higher contrast difference between the ipad the the background settings/environment.

Thanks for reading, i hope this was of some help to you. If not then please email me above on how i could improve on my reviews and help the reader gain better knowledge with fewer words. :)
This iPad is obviously quite old now in the sense that there has been 2 new iPads created since then, HOWEVER, this does not change how awesome this gadget really is. It's perfect for any occasion. It's just always there. It's portable. Easy to use. You can do anything on it really. The possibilities are endless. It's good for kids. It's good for teens. It's even good for adults. Anyone can use an iPad 2. The cameras are fun especially for the kids. There are plenty of photography apps where you can do all sorts of fun things. The device is very fast and sharp when downloading apps, loading a webpage, refreshing your facebook. It's all fast. Speedy=easy to enjoy. The ease of just swiping to open up your favorite social networking site or even a powerpoint slide, it's just brilliant. Anyone who doesn't like iPads clearly doesn't own an iPad. I don't really have to say much about the specs of it to be honest. Everything about it is just amazing. Get your iPad today, I promise you, you will NOT regret a thing.
Although it is not he best tablet on the market and not the cheapest, it certainly delivers. The product which I use mainly for work and games excels in its subject and purpose. It is extremely easy to send emails and browse the web. The screen is also big enough to display the whole website when browsing because a major disadvantage to me when using the other Apple phones and iPods when there was not a mobile version of the website.
The product allows the user to send emails extremely easily using different apps available at the app store, the default mail app or others which are specific to the email.
A disadvantage I find is that the product home screen seems to be getting a bit outdated and although highly customizable, does not contain 'live information' as other tablets on the market do well.
The product is can be irritating to carry around if you don't have a bag for it and a case and screen protector is highly recommended for protection.
