Disadvantages: Keypad and Falsh Players
Now I have to admit that I was not the biggest fan of the iPad when it first came out. My husband was obsessed with getting one and I couldn't understand it. I have a laptop, he has a PC. Why would we want to spend a hundred pounds on a new gadget which goes on the Internet but without the added bonus of being able to use word, excel etc...?
Last Christmas after around 6 months of my husband moaning about getting one I rallied all the family around and we managed to get enough money together to buy him one. Well his face on Christmas day was a picture as we handed him the money and then he started the dutiful wait for number 3 to come out. He loves it but I have to say 8 months on and the iPad is really mine as I'm never off it. That's right everybody I was converted.
So how does the iPad look?
Well our iPad is not white as shown in the picture but black. It is an extremely glossy black around the screen and then silver at the back with the apple symbol proudly showing. The screen is huge and there is not even a ridge separating the screen from the black edge.
There is a button at the bottom of the iPad which you use to take you to the home screen. The top has a small camera for photos and videos. The back then has a camera and the sides contain a power switch. A switch for doing the volume and a small switch for putting the iPad on silent. It is extremely thin So feels quite nice to touch although I'm glad we have a case which props it up for me.
Usability what's it like?
Ok everything is very smart on the iPad. Most things are separated into apps that you can download from the store. They range in price from free to a few pounds in majority. Apps are shown as squares on the iPad scrreen and you can easily swipe with your finger to see all of your apps. Then you have your safari button which takes you to the Internet and there you can go on whatever you like.
The keypad on the iPad will show up from the bottom of the screen when it is needed and the keys are very big which is what I like. It will automatically bring up the letters but thee is a 123 button bottom left which will take you to numbers and characters.
On the Internet you can have multiple Internet sites on tabs open which is good and it is really like using a computer so even I can use it.
My only issues with the iPad is that 1 some sites use flash and java which can be a problem for the iPad and they won't show. My other issue is that the keyboard I find hard to use when holding the iPad so I rest it on my lap. We got a CSS that you can Velcro the pad at a level so you can give p holding it and it's much better she as my mom has a normal case and it is harder to use.
Oh I almost forgot another thing, the photo quality is not amazing unless you have brilliant light.
What are the specs?
Well we have the 16 gigabyte iPad and we have lots of photos, videos and apps on here and so far have not it any storage issues. You can get different gigabytes though for an iPad if you think you may need more space. It is Just over 24cm high and The screen site is just over 9.5 inches. It has a normal adaptor which can also be used for other apple products such as your iPhone.
The battery life is great. It takes a couple of hours to charge and will last a few days so is brilliant.
So why do I like it so much?
The iPad is nothing more than a glorified phone. The reason I love it is that it is big enough that you don't hurt your eyes when using it. I also love the fact that when ou finish with it it is so thin that you can hide it away quite nicely. I do really love it and if they figured a way to get a word like programme on it I would love it. Maybe they have and I don't know about it.
A little more on my favourite app.
Well I love YouTube and with a daughter she loves it too. I find it so easy to take videos and then upload and share them. I also love the right move app as its so easy to use and came in very handy when I was moving house.
In conclusion don't knock it till you've tried it as it is a fab piece of machinery and worth the price tag of just under £400.
Summary: I love it! Great gadget!
