After much deliberation over whether to save for the ipad or not, I decided that there were many other tablet pcs that were just as good for a much lower price.
I did a lot of research on a number of different tablets and finally settled on the Archos Arnova 8 G2, which I bought from HMV for just under £140.
The tablet runs on Android 2.3, which is one of the latest versions, meaning that you can run numerous apps at a time! You can download many apps, free or paid for, from the apps library, which is not the full range of the android app market but I assume it is limited only because of what will work on a tablet rather than a mobile phone.
The tablet has an 800 x 600 pixel display on an 8 inch screen, excellent for playing games, watching movies or even accessing the internet with its built in Wi Fi!
Here are some of the specs for those who are really interested:

The Arnova 8 G2 has everything you could possibly want from a tablet, at a much lower price than many of it's competitors. I would definitely recommend.
