Advantages: email access, internet access, high quality screen
Disadvantages: quite poor battery life
the Curve 8900 is the first Blackberry i have owned and let me say - I won't be going back to a 'normal' mobile again. Its a very nice, shiny looking phone which is very sturdy to hold and comes with a holder which actually puts the phone into stand-by. the little LED red light is also a nice touch - it saves you having to look at your phone all the time to check if you have missed a text/email. If it's flashing you have a text/email...
the 8900 comes with a full QWERTY keyboard so people who are accustomed to using a PC/laptop will find typing very easy. At first the size of the small keys can be a nuisance but, after a few hours of playing around with the blackberry it comes with ease. If you are a text-a-holic like most folk are now a days, the way messages are set out is also a nice touch. The way in which they are laid out is similar to an IM conversation - your reply then theirs.
The 8900 also features a tracker ball which its' sensitivity can be changed to suit the user. The use of this makes navigating through menus or text very easy.
Many applications can be downloaded to the phone to keep you up to date like the twitter app or the facebook app. Good thing with the blackberry is that it comes with a messenger service so if you know others that have a blackberry this is a good feature to take advantage of. Other features of the Blackberry include :
*Alarm (with sleep mode which dims the light so you can see the time without it blinding you when you wake up in the middle of the night)
*Calendar -broken up into times of the day
*Maps - so if you are lost you can ask for directions (i've used this application many times, it's very useful)
*Games
Internet browsing is also possible as you can use wifi on this phone. the speed of the connection is impressive for a phone and the size of the screen is a little better for browsing as opposed to older internet accessible mobiles. You can also set up your Email account on the 8900 so you can check your emails on the go. I personally find this very useful.
the screen is of very high quality and this is shown off with the "demo" video clips which can be found on the Blackberry when first bought.
the only downside i can think of is the battery life. you will find yourself charging the Blackberry every day or so - this all depends on the features and settings you have on your phone such as vibrate and the intensity of the back light on the screen. all these play a part in battery life.
Summary: this is a great phone for people who just cant live without the internet.
