I spent several months deliberating over the many different models and options available on the market before purchasing the Handspring. And in fact it wasnt until i read a review of all handhelds, in which the Visor Deluxe came out on top, that i decided on this model. The Visor range is slightly cheaper than most of its rivals, and quite honestly that just adds to the appeal. The Platinum version offers more performance for the extra £40. It runs the Palm Operating system so software compatibility is not a problem, and having seen many of my friends opt for a Windows based palm i dont regret my choice. A Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) is perhaps one of the most useful bits of electronic kit that anyone could ever own and you could do a lot worse than the Handspring Visor Platinum. As well as doing all the usual stuff that you can do with any Palm OS based PDA it also has a few unique features. Firstly the hot sync cradle connects to your computer via a USB cable. This allows much faster transfers than the slow serial link that comes with the Palm computers. However for some reason on the Platinum handspring have set the default speed to 56kbps, although this can be adjusted to take advantage of the full bandwidth available over USB.
