Advantages: Sat Nav, Surfing the web and Pocket PC usage
Disadvantages: Using as a phone, far to bulky and not easy to make calls
I've got one of these phones with T-mobile. Its called a Vario III. I upgraded mine from a Vario II. Its basically a pocket pc, gps sysem and phone all in one.
When using it as a pocket pc the system uses Windows Mobile 6.0 and has pocket office applications word and excel. The keyboard which slides out is very useful when using these applications. Other pocket pc apps on the Vario III are stuff for doing email, internet, photos and video.
The email and internet apps only work if you sign up to the T-mobile web and walk service. This costs me an extra £7.50 per month for this service on a pay monthly contract.
The gps part of the device is built in, unlike the old vario II in which you had to use a separate blue tooth gps gadget and gps software. No gps software is provided, but you can buy the software from T-mobile at an extra cost.
The phone on the vario iii is ok, but not great. It struggles sometimes to get a signal and is akward when trying to make calls using the touch screen. It has a a built in camera for video calling which is a nice touch.
All in all a great gadget for using as a pda/pocket pc, surfing the web and using as a sat nav. Just wish the phone part could have been a bit better.
Summary: Good but not great
