Rating:
The Kindle Fire is a a 7" screen tablet device that is tied to the Amazon store for purchasing of apps, films and music and can also be used for browsing the internet and many of the other activities associated with a tablet, though it hasn't got a camera, or GPS. To get the inevitable out of the way - it's not an iPad - but then it's not claiming to be one either and at £99 on promotion (£129 ordinarily with "special offers" - ie adverts on the lock screen, or ten pounds more with that function switched off), it's undoubtedly cheap on the scale of tablets, and in the time we've owned one I've actually been pretty impressed with it. My daughter who is ... Read the complete review

I have to confess I was against the idea of e readers from the moment they were first introduced - I LOVE real books, the way they look, feel and even smell is all part of the reading experience which completely get taken away by reading on some sort of electronic device. I love real books so much I have three big bookcases full of the things and it's still not enough! How does any anti e-reader like me end up with a kindle of all things? Anyway I was browsing books (funnily enough) on amazon one day and noticed that there were some free kindle ones that looked interesting, but were on the expensive side to buy physical copies of. Being one who finds it ... Read the complete review

The Kindle Fire is Amazon's latest offering of tablet devices. The once popular E-reader giant is now investing in the tablet market, with the Kindle Fire expected to compete with Apple's iPad. My sister recently got a new mobile phone contract which offered a free Kindle Fire and she has kindly given me free reign on her new toy. Amazon's tablet boasts a 7 inch screen which is a reasonable size for all content. I thought that it was a sleek shape and has a nice solid black border around the screen. The crisp edges really gives it a smart look and the single on-off button on the base next to the headphone jack gives the device a sleek ... Read the complete review

The original plan was to buy one of these for the girlfriend, so she'd stay off my iPad. I've ended up buying 2 of them, as I found it so good I just had to get one myself. It's a bit smaller than the iPad, at 7", but considerably cheaper. Yes, it won't win a spec war with Apple's mighty machine, but if that's all you look at, you are missing the point. I don't normally like Android tablets, I find them too cumbersome and clunky in the way they operate. But this one has Amazon's own customised Android software on it, and it's much better for it. It's very intuitive and easy to use, although comparing it to iOS, although not fair on price ... Read the complete review

At £129 The Kindle Fire is extremely good value for money. It is easy to hold and fairly slim at 189x120 x11.5mm Not too heavy either weighing 400g. It is also very easy to use and navigate. You have your carousel on the home screen which displays all your recent apps, websites, videos, etc, with the most recent first. Also on the home screen are options to go into other things such as games, photos, music etc. Above this is a search box which you can use to search either libraries, stores or web. My mother is a complete technophobe and she manages to use her kindle no problem. It is user friendly whether the user is young or old. Unfortunately there are some ... Read the complete review
