Advantages: Easy to use, Cheap to run & Great Fun

Disadvantages: Not Rechargeable, Too big for a Pocket

A couple of years ago, PDA's such as the palm III were only available to those with a lot of spare cash or who had more money than sense. However, in recent times, the image of the PDA belonging in the hands of the high paid businessman has vanished. The Palm III has become one of my most dependent utilities alongside the mobile phone, which helps me greatly to organise my life, as well as providing myself with a handy entertainment tool when im out.
The Palm organiser comes complete with a handy set of built in applications, such as phone book, scheduler, note pad and task list, which are fantastic tools for organising your life. They can be edited using the palm "Graffiti" software (included) which recognises penstrokes on bottom part of the screen, or via a keyboard facility which appears at the poke of a pen. It is also easy to use and very user friendly with its touch screen interface, and quick to update and edit using windows with its sychronisation feature.
As well as the wide range of software, games and applications, the palm operating system is now capable of containing selected information (channels) from the internet, through a completely free service available from www.avantgo.com. This service is a fantastic way to keep up to date with the latest news through "ITN", the latest film and movie information, through "Film Unlimited" (provided by the guardian) which also allows you to enter your postcode ot recieve local cinema information, as well as pocket sized maps from "Map Blast" and fun from "joke a day". All this information is updated every time you "sychronise" your device, without any further input from yourself.
Palm applications are widely available and take seconds to download from the internet. They can then be just as easily installed with a double click, which will prepare them for installation on the next syc
hronisation. Overall, I would strongly reccomend the Palm IIIe or any other palm device, they are not only a great way to help organise your life and keep up to date, but they are also a great way to have fun and entertain yourself on the train!
