Advantages: Great machine for under £120
Disadvantages: small memory, bit chunky.
My initial reaction to the Palm M100 was "a Palm for under £150 - pull the other one". However as I have sold more of the palm range, and in fact bought a Palm myself I have found out that there is little wrong with the M100.
It is bulkier than the super slim Palm Vx. But not so bulky that it wont fit into your pocket. The screen is slightly smaller, but it does have a hidden back light feature (keep your finger on the power button for a few seconds). It does have 2mb of memory rather then the Vx's 8mb, the extra memory will only benefit those who want to fully use the Avantgo software (the ability to read certain web pages on your Palm).
What makes the M100 a great buy is the fact that it uses the user friendly palm operating system. Basically memory permitting this machine will do everything the more expensive Vx will do.
Syncing to my PC was effortless.
You are perhaps missing about half of the potential of the Palm by not owning a PC, perhaps the biggest draw back is the Full handbook is enclosed on the CD, not actually in print.
After sales with Palm is great, a 0870 number and people who seem to know what they are talking about. A little tip most problems seem to be rectified by preforming a soft reset. (paperclip in hole in the back of the Palm - back up first)
Alot of people who have bought the M100 of me are replacing an older III. This shows confidence in the Palm offering.
