Advantages: Keeps all your data organised (esp. if you'd as disorganised as I am)
Disadvantages: Hotsyncing on Macs
The second in a series of "bonsai ops": (hopefully) detailed ops in a whopping concise 250 words. Enjoy (and comment if you will).
A pocket electronic diary with much more -the Palm VX holds dates, appointments, contacts, accounts, email, to-do lists, games... the list is endless. Instead of a keyboard, writing is via the ultra-intuitive "graffiti" handwriting-recognition: write with a stylus, text appears on screen.
Hold all information you could possibly want in one gizmo. Before getting it, I eyed it skeptically, smelling "gimmick" all over the advertising. But boy was I wrong! It's worth every penny, and then some. It comes with a decent 8MB memory, more than enough for anything you'd possibly want to throw into it.
But perhaps its greatest plus is that users can download programs over the internet into the Palm, thus making the cache of available software infinite. You want a decent spreadsheet? Download. Ditto for games, trivia, currency-converters, maps and travel guides. I've actually used a London travel guide in it, and found all kind of practical info on museum opening hours, restaurants, pubs, theatres.
E-books we've all heard of ad nauseam. If you still want to persist in your evil ways and read one, then you'll be pleased to know the Palm can read all sorts of e-books... Don't worry, battery life won't let you down.
No colour (not that you'd actually need it!). Static causes the screen to get dusty quite often. And, at least on my Mac, hotsyncing with the computer is not 100% functional. That, however, pretty much sums up the disadvantages.
Get a Palm! You won't regret it.
