Advantages: Memory, great inbuilt software

Disadvantages: zilch content

Most people who own Psion products tend to be evangelical about them. In the same way that Betamax video owners sang their praises in the late seventies - and in the same way that Apple Mac users stoicly defend their choice of technology.
I myself own a Psion, and initially went through the phases of praising its memory capacity, its sleek design and its versatility in terms of compatability with other software packages.
However, once you become aware of the wealth of content available to Palm OS users - the Guardian, BBC, Economist, Business Week... to name a few - the Psion seems quite parochial.
It is undeniably the better machine, but Psion don't seem to have made an effort to establish partnerships with the sexier content providers. As a result, if you want to access the latest news on your Revo - without the laborious dial-up hooked up to your mobile - you have to make do with email newsletters. Whereas, via Avantgo on the Palm OS, you can hotsync the PDA and automatically recieve snazzy PDA versions of your favourite reads.
Get your act together Psion. I love your product, but you haven't cut the mustard content-wise.

Just found out something cool. If you go to mobipocket.com you will find a service akin to AvantGo for Palm, PocketPC AND Epoc. It allows you to read e-books and subscribe to the news channels (from BBC and CNN to the Register and others). Could this be better than AvantGo ?

Good opinion. As a fellow Psion fanatic I too am concerned by the lack of content - but I would ask any potential buyer to look to the future. Surely with the arrival of Symbian (i.e Psion Epoc) based phones on the horizon more and more people will start to develop for the Psion platform.

Surely ?!?!

Hopefully !?!?!

Please ????

(check out my Revo opinion for more of the same!)

Welcome to dooyoo. Your first opinion is great; I'm sorry I only rated it U, but I felt it was lacking some important information for a potential buyer - ME!
If you add any more info let me know and i'll rerate, as I think your pretty close to a VU. A little bit of advice to start you off - get yourself known by reading and rating other opinions and you'll soon get more reads.
Again, welcome and I hope you have fun here.
Rebekah.
