Advantages: Compact PDA, lots of softwares available, Wi-Fi, Large Screen

Disadvantages: Touch screen response is not excellent, so dialling can be fiddley with one hand

I got Orange SPV M600 from my company's corporate deal 2 years ago, which is same model as Qtek S200 and HTC Prophet with different branding.

At that time, it was one of the most advanced compact PDA phone around.

Look:
====

Matt black color from front-to-back with small Orange company logo on top right. Buttons are shiny chrome. Same model as shown in the picture of the product description.

Interface:
======

This is touch screen phone with no physical buttons to dial the number.

Front Side:
-------------
1 Calling button
1 Cancel call button
2 Menu buttons
1 windows key to activate start menu
1 OK button
1 ENTER button
1 4-way navigation key to navigate up-down-left-right

Top Right Side:
------------------
1 Activate/Standby button, which also acts as ON/OFF button
Stylus can be found next to Activate/Standby button.

Top Left Side:
-----------------
1 up/down sliding key for voice control
1 communication key to invoke wifi / bluetooth etc
1 camera key to activate camera and then acts as shutter button

Back Side
------------
A camera lense with chrome macro and normal focus ring around. Also a small round mirror for self potrait.

OPERATIONS
=========

Activate
----------
There is a button on the top right of the phone to activate/standby the phone. The calls can be received while phone is in standby.

Calling
--------
Activate the phone and press "CALL" button. The keypad will be displayed on its large touch screen. Once call is finished, it can be disconnected either by on-screen touch screen key or by pressing CANCEL button.

Connections
=========
1 USB Mini-A socket at the bottom for charging and data transfer using ActiveSynch
1 mini phone jack for the handsfree kit.

My Experience So far :
===============

The main function of the phone is to dial the number or send SMS. Which is bit fiddley with the touch screen using one hand. The screen is not as responsive as latest touch screen phones.
However I found typing SMS with stylus is much quicker than on normal phone.

Windows Mobile version 5.0 offers greater flexibility than other smartphones. You can install lot of free or purchased software from large collection available on the internet. Microsoft office applications are very helpful. Though addition of notepad would be better.

Windows Media Player is ok for normal playback, but can not play large files. But you can install free MPlayer and other versatile applications easily. PoketTv works fine with huge mpeg files to watch full movie. The screen is not great compared to Nokia N95, but this phone was introduced 3 years ago, and screen was competitive that time. They could provide standard audio jack instead of mini jack, so normal earphones would also fit in.

To connect to the PC, it requires microsoft active sync application installed on the PC. Which is bit of a downside. Making the phone work as external USB drive would be excellent. But even today very few latest phones support USB drive capability.

It supports standard SD card, which is good point. As it is cheap and standard format than mini-sd or micro-sd. The SD card is inserted on top side of the phone, so you don't have to remove battery to insert SD card like SPV C500/C600 phones.

Few other standard applications are available, including calender, calculator, internet explorer etc. You need to explicitly run taskmanager application to kill running application to free up memory, which is not very convenient.

I managed to get TomTom version 5 working on this phone, which works excellent and looks great on this big screen.

The Wi-Fi feature works fine and even works with secure networks. GPRS & Bluetooth works perfect, so the infrared port.

To summarise, this is excellent phone for PDA to help you get organised and use it as multimedia player.

Summary: Overall very very good experience. Highly recommended (i.e. 2 years ago).
