Advantages: Tiny, Light, Easy to use
Disadvantages: No backlight, no handwriting recognition
Nicer looking screen than the Palm (240 x 120 pixels on the REX6000's little screen), nice sync with Outlook, ridiculously small and light... and there are some games... Currently no downloads (or add-ons in REX speak) available from the official REX.NET site, apart from a system update - but try the REX 6000 help page at: http://home.san.rr.com/dawhites/rex6000/ At the moment there are only a few English add-ons, but the REX 6000 is apparently based on a Japanese product called DataSlim2, made by Citizen, and quite a few (bizarre) Japanese add-ons are available, that were written for the DS2, but work fine on the REX6000. Bearing in mind that this does most of the things you'd expect from a 2Mb PDA (touch-screen, data input, PIM sync, web-clipping, Add-Ons), and is about the same weight and dimensions as a standard PC card, and runs on 2 watch batteries, I think the current lack of English games and other add-ons is largely irrelevant. However, even though my REX was an amazing device straight from the box, I have still added many add-ons, and look forward to many new ones as more and more developers get involved with the REX6000. Data input on the REX is done via a mini keyboard popup on the screen, no handwriting recognition yet, so this can be a bit tedious - but it's great for jotting down notes and reminders. Overall a fantastic product - I only hope that now that Intel have bought Xircom (who bought the REX from Franklin), the device will continue to evolve and be well supported. So far support seems good (they even sent me the unofficial links to get add-ons from), but Intel don't seem to have committed themselves to the ongoing development of this product - which seems sad.
