Advantages: Many many features to mention
Disadvantages: battery life sucks big time
This phone was a must for me, i took this phone out on contract from T-Mobile while i was working there. I got it on an 18 month contract with web and walk total £50 per month.
the choice for me was either buy the iPhone cos its a phone and has games, so i would not have to carry a nintendo ds around with me or buy the samsung omnia. The omnia does much moe than the iPhone. For example the iPhone has a 2 meg camera where by the Omnia has a 5 meg camera and has video calling.
In regards to looks the phone is hot hot hot, its slick modern black shell feels lovely and smooth. I got a case for mine from the elephant and castle for £4 which was a bargain. very much needed to protect the outer casing.
The Wi-fi is great and pretty fast for surfing. my reasoning for buying it was that i could check my assignments, read and check emails on the go. This can be the case but because of the low battery cells i find that if i use the 3G service the batterydoes not last long, so i tend not to use the internet as often. I don't have a car charger so thats another thing i have to buy.
Now the software is brilliant but assessing some of the applications can really slow it down, i have changed the sensitivity of the screen so i can be as responsive as it should be.
I like the widget which is on the today/home screen, its the feature that allows you to pick and choose what you want on your home screen.
the built in email feature was a pain in the bum and still is honestly as i try to send and recieve my hotmail email, the deleting messages from server comes up and refuses to sync, i have tried deleting the account and starting gain. it has jarred me no end. I can download my aol email with ease.
The phone is reliable and has not given me any problems to which i am greatful for.
The camera is good not great unlike my n95 camera ( carl zeiss lens), when i take a photo with it i have to keep still because the photo will smudge. not really impressed with it but use it nevertheless.
The talk time is NOT 500 hours more like 48 hrs standby and talk time 4 hours talk time, this was based on reasonable usage.
If i had the choice i would go for the 16GB option even if i had to pay some change for it.
The one note is great for quick notes (shopping list), i also use mine as a diary.
Options for games is not great i tried to download tetris and connect 4 via java specific for the omnia but both games needed the keyboard numbers to be pressed so i delted them. I need to find touchscreen games....i have tried google search. you get two standard games bubble breaker and solitaire i play this all the time.
sound quality is okay not great my n95 is much better. there is no bass these isn't a problem with the speakers.
Summary: I would get one again and again and again

- 04/01/09 You can't use hotmail through outlook express or similar without paying for your account anymore, that could be why you had problems synchronising your emails. x |
