You may hear the name Sony and think "quality", this is what I think, a huge electronics company and very much seem as fashionable much like "Nike" is in the sports fashion world. Due to loosing my last organiser (leaving it in a phone box) and having the last pennies of a bonus I decided to impulse buy a Sony CLIE (PEG-625-C), I opened it in anticipation and was in many ways a little disappointed in it, it has good graphic resolution, runs the latest Palm OS (4.1), plays sound and video and supports the "Sony Memory Stick" technology but some of the finer points were somewhat lacking and although I am happy overall I would advise careful consideration about buying something like this unless you have a definite requirement to have an organiser. PRO's Hi Res Screen Quite weighty (which I like) Good Resolution Supports Sony Memory Sticks Can be used as a Remote Control for and Infrared device that supports a remote (App included is for Sony VCR/DVD/Hi Fi) Allot of applications available for the Palm OS and I have had no problems with the early Palm 1.0 apps working on this device Screen is softer plastic in comparison to the IBM Workpad that I had before which was glass and shattered easy. Sending Contact numbers from my Nokia 8210 to the IR worked a treat, also had someone send me an app from an IBM Workpad and it worked perfectly. Good Battery life. Documentation is what you would expect CD-ROM Installation was easy. CON's You don't get a USB connector on the CLIE itself, you need to card the cradle around with you too. I believe you can buy the direct attach cable as an accessory but you pay good money for it so you shouldn't have to. Windows affinity could have been better with Send To.. option to load text, pictures, sounds and movies, instead you get some conversion apps
which are not seamless. The recharge connector attached into the back of the cradle and their is 2 parts to the power cable with a horrible (but small) transformer. Would of liked to see the transformer built into the plug. I would have like to have seen an option on the CD that would list all the software on the CD with clear instructions on what each application did and allowed you to tick what you wanted to install and click go Documentation is what you would expect, I put this as a CON too as its always nice to be surprised by the documentation.
