Well, mine came with a CD of 100 classics for starters, although these and many other out-of-copyright books can be downloaded easily for free at Project Gutenberg and other websites. Sony Reader Digital Book PRS505S ... have had my current Sony Reader for just over 4 months, it is a replacement for one purchased Xmas 2008 which had gradually stopped retaining charge and, so far, this one has been perfect so I am putting my initial problems down to an isolated fault. I don t consider my Reader to be a replacement of "real" books in any way but it serves to complement my collections and provides me with a convenient and easy way to have a choice of 1000s of books to dip in and out of every day. The reader itself is lighter than a paperback book, much slimmer (less than 1cm) and marginally larger in height and width. It is easily small enough to be carried anywhere and I can... Sony PRS-505/SC ... carry around all the books I may want to read in one small footprint, that is smaller than most books in width although perhaps a little larger in length. It stores about 160 books without any additional cards, although if you use the maximum sized flash card that can appararently take it up to 13,000 books. I have not had to go that far just yet. It takes books in the adobe PDF format and in Sony format. I have tended to use the adobe format as this seems to be pretty standard. You have to have the Adobe software installed on your PC to allow you to download the books and transfer to your EReader. I started off buying my books from Waterstones, but then found that... There are also 100 classic books on the accompanying CD so it didn t take long before I had a good selection of books I d always meant to get round to reading at my fingertips. Buying books online is pretty straightforward. The software for the Sony Reader allows you to manage books on the device, and seems to integrate fairly well with Adobe Digital Editions (which you need for DRM-protected eBooks in Adobe s formats).
