Advantages: Very cheap, Looks nice, Fast transfers

Disadvantages: N/A

Hi today I will be writing a review on a Buffalo Drivestation 1Terabyte external USB2.0 Hard Disk Drive.

Price
I purchased this from Amazon.co.uk for £69.98 I believe they are now £79.98 as Amazon are out of stock.

Storage Capacity
This is a 1TB hard drive which is 1024GB. The actual size is around 931GB due to software and because you always lose some space for windows stuff.

Size
This hard drive is quite small at 25 x 23 x 9 cm and is quite light although while in use shouldn't be moved around.

Looks
It looks really nice with curved edges and stands quite well with the rubber feet. There is a green light on the top which flashes when being used.

Main Review
The main reason I purchased this hard drive was because it was the cheapest I could see on Amazon. It also had mainly positive reviews with only a few saying it didn't work on MAC computers. I have personally had no problems with this hard drive except when I installed Nero 8 onto it as I unplugged the hard drive to move my laptop and because Nero runs in the background it corrupted Nero and had to be reinstalled. This was my fault and not the hard drives as you shouldn't install any programmes that run in the background onto an external hard drive.
I have installed a lot of games onto the hard drive and I found it to be just as fast if not quicker installing them to this rather than the internal hard drive on my laptop. Even though this is USB and not Sata, Firewire ETC. It still runs extremely fast.
The hard drive comes with an application called Turbo USB which splits a file into smaller parts and transfers them at the same time (or something like that) this increases the transfer speed dramatically.
Also included on the hard drive is another application which is ECO setting in other words this will turn the hard drive off after 10 minutes of not being used and also turns it back on when files RE accessed. I do not use this feature as it caused some problems when running games which are not constantly accessing the hard drive.

For the price of this hard drive it is extremely useful as for a good 1TB hard drive it costs around £100 whereas this £70 does the job just as well if not better.

I would recommend this hard drive to anyone wanting to extend space on there computer/laptop or is looking to back up important files cheaply.

Summary: Great cheap 1TB hard drive

1TB? I don't think I could ever fill that amount of memory!
