Advantages: Big, Fast and Well designed

Disadvantages: Gets very warm

A few weeks ago I purchased the Buffalo Drivestation 1TB External Harddrive as I was running out of space on my other drives, and when I say running out, I mean they were completely stuffed with my undeletable content. I'm one of those people who will never throw things out, nor will I delete things from my PC. This hard drive is designed for people like that.

The hard drive is in a solid black plastic case and it looks pretty good and is definatly very sturdy. In fact much much more sturdy than an iomega drive I once had made of metal. It has a nice design and looks good enough to earn a place on the desk, and it might be an idea to keep it away from a flamable surface as it does get very very hot if left on. The fan is also quite loud when in a quiet room but nothing too extreme.

Speed wise it's as fast as you'd expect and it shouldnt take very long to transfer you files or to backup from a smaller harddrive. I think it took around 40 minutes to transfer a few hundred gigbytes which is good performance. It's also large enough to hold everything you would want it too atleast for a few months anyway and like I said earlier it is perfect for those who don't want to delete anything off there computers.

I got it for around £80 in argos and it came with a free 2GB USB drive which is very useful. I do highly reccomend it for anyone requiring that much space.

I also have that problem but have opted for the Emprex mz3 for storage of all my videos, music and photos as it can be plugged straight into you TV. This sound quite a good hard drive also.
