I bought this Freecom 60Gb mobile hard drive to store my photos and work for my postgraduate studies. It is very small and light and runs directly from your PC or laptop, so it is completely silent - no need for load fan motors and a separate power supply. I run my from a USB2.0 port and it copes very well with storing all data types, even photos are stored and moved around quickly thanks to it's 60Gb of storage space and its 2MB buffer.
