Western Digital Caviar SE WD3000JB 300 GB ... have bought Western Digital drives for a long time, including those bought for friends and family. So far, I have come across one drive that failed, which was replaced efficiently by Western Digital. The drive is very good value, and turns in a good speed also. I don t have measured figures, but I do play games whilst downloading patches and demos from the internet. All of my downloads go to this drive, and there doesn t appear to be much stuttering in the game. My drive is also pretty quiet, and appears to run quite cool. I have seen drives by Maxtor and Seagate which either run hot, noisy or both, so I m pleased with my purchase. Western Digital s website has f... Toshiba MK 6021GAS 60 GB ... MK6025GAS - Hard drive - 60GB, 2.5", 4200 RPM, 2MB buffer. 2 of these failed! First one lasted 15months, and ended up giving noises like chainsaw. Then I brought second one, which lasted exactly 12.5 months- and failed 15 days after warrany expired. The notebook (and 2nd drive in it) spent most of the year on my desk. Both cases are just too fortunate for the manufacturer to be a coincidence. Hit rate 2/2 = 100%. Toshiba drives sucks! The drive was not cheapest one, so I expected I will get the quality, but got sh*t instead. Will never buy a hdd without 4 year warranty at least.... Read the full review: Hit rate 2/2 = 100% failed. Seagate Barracuda ES 320 GB ... ve been using the Barracuda 320GB Hard Drive for some months now, I bought it for the capacity, speed and new features aswell as many past experiences with seagate drives that have always been good, they may not come top in benchmark tests but there usually in the top five and are one of the most quiet. As with most drives, after formatting you lose some space, the 320GB ended up being about 298GB, but no complaints here 298 gigs is more space than I ll ever use.
