Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1 TB:
... Samsung Spinpoint F1 (HD103UJ) is a fast, inexpensive hard drive with a large amount of space, however it really is quite unreliable. When formatted in windows, you are basically left with 931GB, which is obviously quite big. Great for HD content, music and games (no need to uninstall). Mine was whisper quiet and temp of the hard drive never passed 40c. It was easy to slot in my comp and as with most drives, con... Seagate Barracuda ATA V 60 GB ... is the oldest hard drive in my house and houses the operating system on what I call my "work" PC. It replaced a faulty IBM one, which itself was replacing a faulty Maxtor one. They both lasted a few weeks, this has lasted 7 years so far. If you are looking to buy one of these I can recommend them, even second hand I wouldn t expect anything to be wrong with one of these. They can take a beating. SEAGATE "SEAL": The first thing I noticed about it when I originally got it was the Seagate Seal. This is a large "sticker" that covers the electronics on the underside of the hard drive. I had never seen this on any hard drive before and so I... Read the full review: EARLY BARRACUDA- BRING ON THE POWER OF ATA V! by monkey_daz |

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB ... I bought this for my parents PC to replace an ageing Seagate 40GB IDE hard drive that was slow and nowhere big enough anymore. It cost £44.21 inc VAT from eBuyer in May 2008. As it is SATA, I also had to get a PCI SATA card and I got the Value one from eBuyer for a few quid. It detected it first time and the driver was compatible so I can t complain. PERFORMANCE: Well, this is one impressive hard drive. To me, it seems to be faster than the Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB in my much newer PC! The whole computer is very snappy to respond and generally boots up a lot faster than before. It is also very quiet. You can barely hear it spinning, even in this PC wh... Read the full review: SEAGATE KEEPS UP WITH MY EXPECTATIONS AND MORE by monkey_daz |

Samsung Spinpoint F1 Desktop Class HD502IJ 500 GB ... installed this in a system running the Asus A8N-SLi Premium, AMD 64 3500 CPU and 2GB DDR RAM. It s fast, but it s not extremely fast. My Seagate barracuda 7200.11 on eBuyer s value SATA PCI card is noticeably faster and that is running on an Athlon XP 2000 system with 768MB RAM! Anyway, on with the review. Samsung s reputation for the Spinpoint series of hard drives is exceptional. I have not heard of anyone buying these and ever having any problems. I have heard of plenty of problems, and experienced these myself, with the old IBM Deskstars or "Deathstars" as they were also known and Maxtor DiamondMax hard drives. Oh, the IBM was the best, actually hearing ... Read the full review: SAMSUNG LIVES UP TO REPUTATION- fast, quiet, reliable by monkey_daz |
