Seagate SV35.3 Series ST3500320SV 500 GB ... this hard drive first came out it was the first hard drive with 32MB of cache. Your cache in simple terms is your working memory, similar to your ram but its not. This hard drive is sata 2 but has a little trick, if your motherboard only support normal sata don t worry, this hard rive will still work. near where the cables all go in there is a little jumper. This limits it to normal sata and it comes with it limited to normal sata. If your mother board does support sata 2 (which all new motherboard do now) then be sure to take out this little jumper so you can have the full sata 2 speeds. We bought two of this lately and have been using this ever since the hard drives from our oldest computer cluster started failing early in 2007. We have a Beowulf cluster made up of 16 Dell desktop computers with Pentium IV CPU s. This cluster has been around since 2002 and is very reliable. However, the hard drives that come from the Dell computers are manufactured by IBM and five years later this drives started failing. These old drives are 40 GB and we noted that the price of a 40GB hard drive is almost the same as 80 GB so we opted for this size. ... Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1 TB ... having a Samsung 160Gb IDE drive die after just a fortnight s use three years ago I vowed not to buy Samsung again. However, after spotting a one terabyte hard-drive for the cost of 750Gb models from Maxtor and Seagate I just couldn t resist. There s not a great deal to say about an internal hard disc, but I guess that saying that it hasn t failed after two months of usage is a positive review ;) The disk is pretty quiet and only audible under heavy seeking.
