Advantages: Cheap hard wearing looks cool

Disadvantages: USB cable a bit short but that was resolved quickly

The Maxtor Basics 500GB is probably the most reliable portable storage devices I have ever used.
The device is made from hard plastic that has been proven to survive a number of drops of the desk and manage to still work with out an issue. This is important in our family as we have children that get into everything. The device is attractive with a blue that that flashes when the device is transferring data.
The device also is very quiet my laptop fan is probably louder
The device is 500 GB which gives the user a massive storage area which would be really hard to fill up. The transfer speed is nearly 480 Mbps which is extraordinary fast. I transferred 100 GB of data unless than an hour. Installation was easy the device is plug and play which means that when the device is connected to the computer Windows will recognise the device and install the drivers necessary for the device to communicate with the computer. To copy files onto the device you just drag and drop. The device connects to your computer via a usb cable with I have found isn't long enough but a trip to your local IT store will resolve the issue. I have used this device for the last six months without issues lose of data and corruption. I would recommend this device to anyone who is looking for a data storage solution.

Summary: This is probably the best drive i have purchased in a long time worth a look
