The 20GB hard drive is basically essential. You can just use memory units but these cost around £25 each and only have a fraction of the memory.

If you don't a hard drive you really are losing money. Downloading demos, Xbox Originals, Arcade games and trials, themes, gamer pictures, music, video and game saves all require memory and this hard drive is an absolute minimum in my opinion. The hard drive is thin, small and very stylish. It has chrome parts and matches the console and other accessories in colour perfectly.

One misconception about hard drives is that you get exactly the amount they say... but this is not true. With this hard drive you will get around 14GB of memory which is still perfectly reasonable, but just to warn you.

If you are considering buying a 360 in the near future I strongly recommend going for the Premium or Elite so that you get a hard drive with the package. Otherwise you will more than definitely regret it.

It's easy to remove and attach and is simply done by pushing down a small button and lifting the hard drive out or placing it in and requires no installation - just put it in, make a profile and you're off.

Summary: If you have a 360, you really do need a hard drive and will benefit from them greatly
