Advantages: lots of spcae to store not only game saves, but also films, music, arcade games, etc

Disadvantages: Quite expensive

If you own an Xbox 360 then it is almost impossible to really utilise everything that is available to you without having this 20GB hard drive. If you own the premium console or the elite then you will be fine as these already come with their own hard drives. However if you have bought the arcade console or the core console then i would certainly advise buying a hard drive so that you can really fulfill the potential of such a great console and get the most out of xbox live.

I originally bought the premium console, which later broke so I bought the arcade console, but fortunately I already had my hard drive and just moved it to my new console - I would have to say that this hard drive is indispensable and extremely important part of my console as it has so many different purposes.

The actual hard drive:

The hard drive is quite bulky and can store up to 20GB worth of whatever you want to put on there be it films, music, games, etc. It does however slot very nicely on the top of the console and once on it looks like it should be there and is just another part of the console. It is also very easy to remove and put back on and can therefore be easily taken round a mate's house in order to show him your game saves or something like that.

So, what can be put on there:

When you purchase this hard drive it comes with a n xbox live arcade game already stored on there, it is Hexic HD - a cool little puzzle game which is always worth a play if you get a bit bored. But if you delete it there is no way of getting it back at the moment - as I accidentally deleted it!
You can store, quite obviously, up to 20Gb worth of stuff. The most important will probably be your game saves - which only take up a few MB so no need to worry about these.
You can also download lots of stuff from the xbox live marketplace including music videos, films, arcade games and even xbox originals. These will all take up varying amounts of space which will be indicated when you download a product.
You can also burn your CDs onto the xbox and store these on the hard drive - then listen to them whilst playing your favourite games!

It is also very easy to delete stuff as this can be done under the settings menu on the dashboard - so no need to worry if you use all the space or download stuff you don't want - it can be removed.

Price:

This hard drive costs £64,99 from play.com

Quite expensive so would be worth buying the consoles which come with it on the first place.

Of course there are other options:

If you love downloading games and films and need even more space you can purchase a 120GB hard drive for £129.99 (play.com) If you are going to need more space then this would be a better option as it is cheaper in relation to the space you are given.

Or, if you just want to store game saves and aren't worried about all the extras such as films and games then you can buy a simple memory unit either 64mb (£15) or 512mb (£29.99)

Thanks for reading!

Summary: good hard drive which looks nice and can store whatever you want!
