Quantum Fireball Lct 20.4 GB ... the demand for low-cost PCs continues to grow rapidly, the problem is finding ways to lower costs without lower ingreliability, capacity, and performance. Quantum is meeting the challenge with the new Fireball low-cost technology (LCT) family of hard disk drives. Building on the proven Fireball platform, the Fireball LCT line of drives use advanced, integrated electronics combined with numerous design in notations to achieve leading-edge performance, a wide range of capacity points, and solid reliability for the long run-all at very competitive prices. As a result, these drives are today's premier value in desktop storage for consumer and small business applications.

With Quantum's new, second-generation Shock Protection System II (SPS II), Fireball LCT drives take reliability and data integrity to an even higher level, with enhanced protection against both operating and non-operating shock. Along with providing enhanced protection against shock during handling and integration, SPS II now guards against kicks and jolts while the PC is running to reduce field failures. Like previous Fireball generations, the Fireball LCT also uses the Quantum-pioneered Data Protection System (DPS), which verifies essential functions in seconds to eliminate costly and unnecessary drive returns. Together, these systems deliver higher reliability and improved data integrity, while reducing drive returns and cutting processing and replacement costs.

Of course, it would be ideally suited to someone who just wanted a machine for word processing and some light internet browsing and email but not much more. Perhaps if you buy one get a big hard drive for your files, videos, pictures etc... and install the OS and Microsoft Office onto the 2...more

This hard drive is so old but I'm using one for random videos at the moment so I thought what the heck. Not really something worth getting due to its very very very low capacity of 20.4GB (forget about the extra .4GB it makes no difference). What you can do with this though is install Windows XP Pro with some space for files or Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Student which may be handy for corporate customers who want to minimise cost but this technology is so outdated you may as well use DOS.
