Advantages: The price! Fast read with 32mb Cache
Disadvantages: None... yet!
After having a Samsung 160Gb IDE drive die after just a fortnight's use three years ago I vowed not to buy Samsung again. However, after spotting a one terabyte hard-drive for the cost of 750Gb models from Maxtor and Seagate I just couldn't resist.
There's not a great deal to say about an internal hard disc, but I guess that saying that it hasn't failed after two months of usage is a positive review ;) The disk is pretty quiet and only audible under heavy seeking. One special feature of this drive is the 32Mb of cache which gives incredible read performance. My previous boot disc was a 320gb Maxtor, however when running an HDD Benchmark I noticed that this dive was achiving near 70mbps - double that of the Maxtor! Swapping this drive to be my primary boot volume has made the whole computer feel much snapper and more responsive.
For those of you out there who are not tech heads - this hard drive has all the storage you will ever need and is very quick to boot (*boom boom!*)
Summary: Excellent disc at an amazing price - if you're looking for cost effective storage, this is it
