Samsung Spinpoint P80 SP1614N 160 GB ... recently upgraded from this HD after 1 year of continued heavy use, I can honestly say I ve not used a more reliable product. Samsung are always very consitant in their goods, and in the past 5 years I think I ve only ever had one that I ve returned as faulty. This HD has a capcity of 160gig, with a 8Mb buffer and runs at a speed of 7200rpm, which while making it not the fastest drive out there, certainly puts it in the running for a high end low cost drive. Overall there isnt really a great deal more I can say about this drive. It s reliable, it s a decent speed, it s quiet, it s cheap. It does everything I would ever really look for in a HD. Samsung Spinpoint F1 Desktop Class HD103UJ 1 TB ... are that good. You can pick these up for around £60 now, which is as cheap as chips in my book! These drives run quiet and cool. No annoying HDD seek noises from these bad boys. Both mine sit at least 3C to 6C cooler than my other 2 HDD s. The large 32MB cache is a boon when you are moving large files around. A typical DVD rip (DivX) movie of around 700MB can be moved in just a few seconds. A good 1TB drive like these will hold around 200 DVD s or thousands of albums. I have never had a Samsung HDD fail on me yet and as far as standard HDD go they are top of the range. Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1 TB ... Samsung Spinpoint F1 (HD103UJ) is a fast, inexpensive hard drive with a large amount of space, however it really is quite unreliable. When formatted in windows, you are basically left with 931GB, which is obviously quite big. Great for HD content, music and games (no need to uninstall). Mine was whisper quiet and temp of the hard drive never passed 40c. It was easy to slot in my comp and as with most drives, consisted of multiple holes which allowed me to screw it firmly in my case. The F1 Hard Drives consist of three 334GB platters which is what makes them so fast. Read and write speeds were fairly good, games loaded very quickly and HD content ran very smooth. I g...
