Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1 TB ... Samsung Spinpoint F1 (HD103UJ) is a fast, inexpensive hard drive with a large amount of space, however it really is quite unreliable. When formatted in windows, you are basically left with 931GB, which is obviously quite big. Great for HD content, music and games (no need to uninstall). Mine was whisper quiet and temp of the hard drive never passed 40c. It was easy to slot in my comp and as with most drives, consisted of multiple holes which allowed me to screw it firmly in my case. The F1 Hard Drives consist of three 334GB platters which is what makes them so fast. Read and write speeds were fairly good, games loaded very quickly and HD content ran very smooth. I g... Samsung Spinpoint F1 Desktop Class HD502IJ 500 GB ... installed this in a system running the Asus A8N-SLi Premium, AMD 64 3500 CPU and 2GB DDR RAM. It s fast, but it s not extremely fast. My Seagate barracuda 7200.11 on eBuyer s value SATA PCI card is noticeably faster and that is running on an Athlon XP 2000 system with 768MB RAM! Anyway, on with the review. Samsung s reputation for the Spinpoint series of hard drives is exceptional. I have not heard of anyone buying these and ever having any problems. I have heard of plenty of problems, and experienced these myself, with the old IBM Deskstars or "Deathstars" as they were also known and Maxtor DiamondMax hard drives. Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1 TB ... having a Samsung 160Gb IDE drive die after just a fortnight s use three years ago I vowed not to buy Samsung again. However, after spotting a one terabyte hard-drive for the cost of 750Gb models from Maxtor and Seagate I just couldn t resist. There s not a great deal to say about an internal hard disc, but I guess that saying that it hasn t failed after two months of usage is a positive review ;) The disk is pretty quiet and only audible under heavy seeking. One special feature of this drive is the 32Mb of cache which gives incredible read performance.
