Best external Hard Drive I've ever used (Seagate External Desktop Drive 1 TB)

I bought this a while ago to take films and music to uni with me and save carrying hundreds of discs. I have had it a couple of months now and I am yet to find a single flaw. It isn't too big. It looks good on the desk. It's quiet and stays cool during even long periods of use. The 1Tb size fits as much as anyone realistically uses and more than most so you are never worried about running out when you need it.

One slight drawback is the need for an external power supply although this is true of any desktop hard drive and isn't too much of a problem. It connects with a USB 2.0 interface allowing data to be written to it at speeds of 30Mbps. The read speed is greater than that and never leave you waiting any significant amount of time for something to open or copy.

I have not had it long enough to comment fairly on the durability but nothing has gone wrong yet.

This together with the excellent price (I bought mine from Amazon for £63) makes it the only really sensible choice of large capacity desktop hard drive.

Summary: A very good HDD and excellent for the price
