I feel I should be honest and explain I have been somewhat nervous about writing this review. Computers and all things technical are not really my bag so I wasn't too sure how to go about explaining the technical pros and cons of my new external hard drive, but then I got thinking, how many of the average consumer are at the same level of me and maybe Dooyoo does need a layman's review of this very handy product. I am also the first one to write about it which suggests that there is nothing to remark about it or everyone else is scratching their heads about what to say. On that basis I am taking the plunge! My laptop has been dying for some time now, I have ... Read the complete review

My wife external storage device finally gave up the ghost the other day and as the price of Data storage has dropped significantly in the last year decided to purchase the Seagate External Desktop Drive 500 gb What attracted me to the drive initially was the price at under 50 pounds a bargain. Also the colour and size ensured that it would fit next to her laptop on a small desk without long cables and mess everywhere. We purchased the device and headed home after opening the device i installed onto my wife's laptop Installation was easy and all that was required was powering up the device and plugging the storage unit into ... I was looking for a decently priced External Drive after I picked up my new LG HD Television, mainly because the TV supports DivX format - So I could plug the drive straight in and watch away. Having a search around on the 'net I came across the Seagate 500GB model. Having never bought an external drive before, it seemed too good to be true - Massively reduced price compared to other models, great speed at 7200rpm and a wonderful glossy finish. The machine even features an internal sleep mode that will detect when it's being used and switch off as necessary (This can even be altered using the provided tools). Needless to say, I took the plunge and ... Read the complete review

I have had this hard drive for a few months now and its exactly what it says on the tin. Please not that only 466gb of the hard drive is usable after it has been formatted to a NTFS format which is what is recognized by most computer systems. First of all it is powered by the mains which means that it isn't meant to be used as a portable hard drive unless you are always near to a power socket. It does work on USB 2.0 but rarely achieves the top speed of 480mb/s. The average speed is around 15 mb/sec which is all right for this kind of drive. The drive itself doesn't come with any software to install which is a good thing for most people but if you are more advanced and ... Read the complete review
