Good value but quite loud storage device (Seagate External Desktop Drive 500 GB)

Advantages: cheap and hardwearing

Disadvantages: rather noisy and the usb cables not very long

My wife external storage device finally gave up the ghost the other day and as the price of Data storage has dropped significantly in the last year decided to purchase the Seagate External Desktop Drive 500 gb What attracted me to the drive initially was the price at under 50 pounds a bargain.

Also the colour and size ensured that it would fit next to her laptop on a small desk without long cables and mess everywhere.

We purchased the device and headed home after opening the device i installed onto my wife's laptop



Installation was easy and all that was required was powering up the device and plugging the storage unit into a spare USB slot

The storage device is plug and play which means that you don't need any software or drivers to access the device and it's a matter of dragging and dropping the data onto the device. This process was easy and I found myself transferring important files within moments of first opening.



The device runs very quickly but is a bit too noisy for my liking. The device also has a bright blue led light which flashes when data is transferring which could be annoying if you want to transfer large amounts of data over night when my backup runs.



In conclusion the storage device is very quick and I feel worth the money, we have been using this device for the past few months and had no loss of data or corruption issues that have occurred with other devices I have used.

The device is hardwearing as I have dropped it a few times with minimal damage to the casing and no loss of data. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a replacement storage device
