If you didn't get it, don't send me hate mail calling me sad - it's a mickey take out of a certain cleaning advert. Right, now we've got that out of the way we can get cracking! Seagate has always been well known for producing high quality hard drives, and this model is no exception. (How many times have you heard that?!) Cheap, cheerful, loads of space and it's reliable. What more do you need to know? Well, my personal experience with Seagate has always been very good, and when I got my Seagate ST328040A Barracuda ATA I was "well chuffed". I ordered mine through Evesham (a PC company) and not only did they get the drive to me quickly, but it was twice the size than I ordered! I know that has nothing to do with the product, but it's a nice story. The drive was very painless to install, all I did was shove it in and link it to the appropriate cables. I then went into DOS, used FDISK and formatted it - the instructions were dead simple! Then I put all of the info from my old drive onto the new one, and it was all done! I was VERY impressed. I really can't praise this product enough - everything was there, speed, space and great value - I've had no problems with it and now I'm even considering buying a second! If you're looking for a hard drive, have a look at this one. Of course, if it doesn't meet your specs then that's fine, but if it does then I'd seriouosly look at getting one of these if you don't want any hassle. Good job Seagate!
I recently upgraded my DELL Dimension XPS R400 Pentium II computer. Thankfully the DELL tower is easy to work on as I have rather large hands. I bought the Seagate drive as I has upgraded other PCs and this was good package so why risk going to another manufacturer. This was used as the replacement to the only hard disk in the computer as the controllers were already full with three other devices installed (DVD-Rom, CD-RW and Zip). The disk was well priced £162 for this massive 28GB capacity. The DiscWizard software supplied by Seagate made the installation process simple. This led me step-by-step through the installation and formatting process and install the operating system. I was apprehensive at first but after reading thought the booklet that accompanied the hard disk I felt confident and the process was painless. I also used the opportunity to upgrade the Operating System to Windows 98 SE.
