Toshiba USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 250 GB ... bought this toshiba portable hard drive from cdiscount on offer and it was a very good price for a 250gb usb drive. The drive is probably as slim and light as you can get and although there is no obvious way of opening it I would say it probably has a standard 9.5mm 2.5" laptop hard drive in it which could be useable in a laptop? The hard drive seems very quick at reading and writing files - it to me a couple of seconds to simply transfer an mp3 file. There is also no useless software on it to slow it down. I currently have it formatted to fat32 so I can use it with a pvr machine to record tv. The usb cable provided is very short but I suppose the drive is always... Toshiba MK6021GAS 60 GB ... MK6025GAS - Hard drive - 60GB, 2.5", 4200 RPM, 2MB buffer. 2 of these failed! First one lasted 15months, and ended up giving noises like chainsaw. Then I brought second one, which lasted exactly 12.5 months- and failed 15 days after warrany expired. The notebook (and 2nd drive in it) spent most of the year on my desk. Both cases are just too fortunate for the manufacturer to be a coincidence. Hit rate 2/2 = 100%. Toshiba drives sucks! The drive was not cheapest one, so I expected I will get the quality, but got sh*t instead. Will never buy a hdd without 4 year warranty at least.... Read the full review: Hit rate 2/2 = 100% failed. Toshiba MK8025GAS 80 GB ... the Toshiba MK 8025GAS hard drive fitted in my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1630 from new. It failed on me after only 13 months. The drive only comes with a 1 year warranty. I also some lost data (between back ups). Not happy about this kind of reliability. Have replaced with a drive with 5 year warranty - ok it still might fail but at least I haven t wasted my money.
