Does the job but is all too loud about it (Trekstor Datastation Maxi t.u 80 GB)

This is basically just an 80gb external hard drive. I bought it mainly as a home for all my music, partly because I was running out of space on my laptop and partly because I wanted it to be portable around different computers. In this sense it has done exactly what I wanted and has been very useful. It is small enough to put into any sized bag and carry around, and the plug and play feature means that you do not have to turn off your computer or anything like that in order to disconnect it.

Although 80gb may seem small by the terabyte sizes that are more commonly seen today, to be honest I will never need anymore than 80gb until new technology means that file sizes increase dramatically. I am currently only using 40gb and this could probably be cut down if I wanted to.

My only reservation about tis device is that it is a bit too loud. I don't tend to mind the noise if I am at the computer but if I am in the same room doing something else then it can become very annoying. This sound is a constant dull buzz as well as a loud chattering when it is doing any serious writing to disk. This is disconcerting as it sounds like an old hard drive on its last legs. This said the hard drive has never failed me and at £35 from Maplin is a snip.

Summary: Decent but don't expect stae of the art silence
