Advantages: Simple plug and play, no installation, no noise, light, easy to transport

Disadvantages: Perhaps 250gb isn't enough if you have a big collection

Having recently bought a playstation 3, I was looking for a hard drive which I could connect to the console and play music files and movie files. I decided upon this one but having never owned an external hard drive, I really did not know what to expect. However having now owned this for a few months, I can really see the benefits of owning one.

Firstly this is a very light hard drive and compact, so compact and light that you can transport round in your pocket. Secondly unlike some of the other hard drives on the market this is a simple plug and play device, the hard drive is powered by a usb cable. The transfering of files onto this hard drive and the deletion of existing files is easy to do and the process itself is very quick and simple. Which means that this is ideal for even the computer novice out there.

The hard drive is extremely quiet when in operation and I never had encountered any problems when using this. It is of course always a good idea to keep a back up of your files to ensure that if anything does go wrong you don't lose everything in one fell swoop. This is an excellent hard drive and if this is anything to go by then Western Digital is an excellent company. The only downside is that initially 250gb seemed to be more than sufficient room for the files I had. However since then my collection has exploded in number and thus whilst I would recommend this I would also caution that you might need more room in the future.
