Advantages: Quiet Drive, Good price, reliable, and looks good,
Disadvantages: Would reccomend trying to carry it around,
recently bought this after owning Western Digital's 1TB hard drives from the same range. I will say they are by far brillant home drives and great to use. The two 1TB drives I own have neverfailed me and are full to the brim. Although the case being that any hard drive can fail this range is great by my standard.
The drive comes with the software you need, although if you want you can just plug in to vista and XP and it will install and work auotmatically, so as an option you can just get rid of all the software using up a little space on the drive by formatting it when you get it, or chose to keep it there.
It is a quiet drive in respect to other drives on the market and also looks very nice, espcially if you get a few of these together. The capactiy of this one is 640GB obviously some of the space as with all hard drives is used up by system data but theres a lot of room.
The processing speed of the drive is very good will copy onto the drive with very good speeds with USB. This not one for portability as it has to be powered by mains and then plugged into USB and on top of that is a slightly heavier and bigger than any portable drives, however I have taken mine on many train rides and even dropped my 1TB one a couple times and still have had no problems.
If you reformat this drive to NTFS rather than FAT32 you will also have no real problems with computer use, however when trying to connect to devices such as media hubs and some games consoles and such you will find they do not pick up the NTFS format of drives, so think carefully and check up on compatability with any consoles or other equipment you wish to use this drive with. Also reccomened doing that with any other drives you buy in future as you will save ourself a lot of hassle.
if you are ever travelling this comes with multiple adaptors for the hard drive which is a very useful feature if you are going away to family or business and need good compatability from a hardd drive.
Again from price point this hard drive comes at around £60 a very good price for a hard drive which I say is of good quality. I have also got a number of portable drives and so on. Including a 500GB portable which I bought as the hard drive seperatly and then the case, which totalled £135 so in comparison if you want a large capactiy drive at a good price I would reccomend this one.
Summary: Great all round product
