Advantages: Pretty, works well

Disadvantages: Scratches easily

I bought this harddrive so that I would have a place to back up some of the files that I most wanted to keep safe, such as photos and important documents. 250 GB is a lot of space and for any casual user it will be more than enough. You only need to look at a harddrive with a bigger capacity if you have tonnes of music, video or graphics-heavy files.

I was a bit surprised that the harddrive came with no instructions or installation CD, and people who are not at ease with computers might panic a bit at that. However all you need to do it plug the harddrive into a USB port and your computer should instantly recognise it and install the hardware for you.

After that it's really a simple matter of copying and pasting or dragging over the files you want to save onto the harddrive. I have had no problem doing this and I have had no problem retrieving the files on other computers either. I have had the harddrive for around 2 years and not experienced any problems with reliability either.

I would say that this harddrive is functional, but maybe not the best design aesthetically. For a bit more money you can get a tiny credit card sized one which will do that same job. Also, although the black gloss surface is attractive, you only have to look at it to scratch it! Even after being very careful with mine, it's covered in tiny scratches.

So a useful harddrive, but not the smallest or most scratch proof around.

This harddrive has an RRP of £79.99 but it can be bought on Amazon.co.uk for £47.87. As well as black it is also available in Real Red, Intense Blue, Vibrant Pink, Titanium or Arctic White, so you have a large array of colour choices. However these are all different prices and black is currently the cheapest.

Also something I learned is that you need to configure this sort of drive depending on your data that you transfer, a FAT32 setting only allows a max 4Gig files to copied across in one go whereas NTFS allows for bigger files transfer.
